Not all Dec kids are slow and immatured. My boy achieved bursary merit and scholarship from P1 till last year Sec 2! Amazing! I can’t believe too. So, don’t worry, they can do it.

My ds is 3 years and I am worried too. But I am trying to be prepared for teachers to mention that they are slow or whatever. Afterall they are dec kids. They just need our support.

I understand that worry completely. My daughter is end Nov...she is a slow learner and requires constant reminder to keep up. She is in P2 this year, but mentally she is only 7...yet she has to learn what is taught at P2 level. What I can do is revise with her everyday in the hope that something is refreshed in her mind.

Joy of learning ? What is that ? :stupid:
My daughter was given crazy and incredibly tough 听写 in her kindy back then. Don't get me wrong, I am all for having 听写 in K2...but the characters given must be reasonable. Thank goodness she is done with kindergarten.

Many schools go easy at P1...so there is no such thing as continual assessments or semestral assessments 1/2 (aka mid-year/final year exams).

Madness doesn't start in P3...that's too late to start any coaching.
Those assessments are similar to CAs...10%. Tests in May carry 30%.
Summative tests are just another name. Most schools have STREAMING at the end of P2. This determines the class the kids are streamed into for P3. In P3, kids have Science and a deeper level of subjects to handle.
