Yah... NYPS is so popular that it has doubled the requirement guidelines set by MOE...

Besides double PV hrs, one also need to apply for PV 2 yrs before registration, ie when yr kid is 4yrs n not 5 yrs. Normally, PV application is 1 yr before registration.

Actually, what services would the school need most? Traffic wardens?

80hrs is rather tough, wait, scratch that, extremely tough for working parents ๐Ÿ˜ž And what's more it is no guarantee of a place, let alone an interview :?

                *thinking* worth the effort ?

Normally, there is no balloting for phase 2B and for the recent registration, 50% of PV are living >1km. The only yr with balloting for 2B was in dragon yr. So, it is still good to be PV even if living outside 1 or 1-2 km as NYPS seemed to keep around 50% PV places for such parents. Ofcourse, for within 1km, being a PV means a sure get in!

If I can get into PV ever, Iโ€™ll think of shifting house thenโ€ฆ

I heard from a colleague that he initially got rejected PV (not NYPS) cos he was outside 2km, apparently the school told him it was a waste for him to PV since he was outside the 2km radius, until he showed his purchase agreement for a nearby condo within 1km.

                        Luanee:
babyronz, I think both MGS and SCSG are quite risky even if you rent a place <1km, esp MGS. Under phase 2C, both schools usually conduct balloting for 1-2km and MGS even did it for <1km in year 2007.

A safer bet would be RGPS i think. Reasons:
                        1. More classes (300 places compared to 200~210 places)
                        2. No affliliation to sec sch (hence less popular)
                        3. No church/clan connections

Actually since your daughter is so young, have u considered that all your plans would have gone awry if you suddenly have a son? ๐Ÿ˜›
Errr..not really coz if I have a son he'll definitely study in a boys' sch..I have direct connection with one of the boys' sch in Bukit Timah..hehe..
