I just got her a pre-paid call and I told her that I will pay for the 1st time, for future top up card, she will need to fork out her own.

I allow her to keep her ang pow money, for monthly salary, will keep in the bank. Same like some, I will pay for her purchase and deducted from her salary end of the day. All will be written black and white for her to acknowledge.

        24hr-mum:
at the end of two yrs prob they only rem how much their salary bonus offday, not those ad hoc freebies. trust me

Sigh...I agree whole-heartedly, all forgotten

Mine was, we bought her a hp when she first came so as she can contact her family and SMS is cheaper than her using public phone. We bought her prepaid cards sometimes too. it was within control then but not until she started her off days. Now she's constantly SMS, on FB, busy with her networking and activities for her off. I am surprise that many helpers are active in FB.
I think for new ones, it's easier to control but not those experience.

My philosophy then was as long as we treat her well, she will appreciate but sad to say, 得寸进尺. So be careful what u give cos when u don't at times, they will remember it and forget about the all the good u did for them 😞

am new to this post, my current maid (less than 6 months) asking for a hp from us. not sure if we should pay for this. we did ask her why she need and she told us she wants to call home using her phone even though we offer to let her call back home at our expenses. any thoughts on this?

am not that comfortable on that arrangement as home had no proper adult supervision for the children beside her alone. she is very insisting to get the hp which i even told her the high cost she had to pay on her own for the usage. any suggestion to handle this if she still go ahead to buy the hp? thanx 🤷

                  PHMummy,

Do you have cctv at home that you can monitor if she’s using the phone while looking after the children? I guess even if you don’t allow her to get, she might get the phone secretly, maybe you can give her warning that you will confiscate the phone if she use it when she’s working?

                    Hello Minami,

Yes, may consider to put in the cctv and will give her the warning. seems we are at their mercy…
