not sure about cheap but I buy mine from Peninsula plaza. dunno which is the best, but there is one grocery cum money remittance shop at level 3/4 (with bright yellow?/orange signboard - it's a fairly big set up). My maid had sent back money twice there - no issue.

I used to get mine from street vendors around SG but they can be fairly unreliable - ie the number can NEVER get through. The ones I get from that shop is okay, haven't heard any complaints from my maid and while I dun monitor, I understand she was able to talk to her family.

umm, sorry, those cards are meant for calling overseas. One dials a local number to get through. Guess it’s different from prepaid cards that one inserts to a mobile phone.

why do you need to buy the phone card for her? my maid buy her own phone card and i don't have to worry about her.

My first maid use my hubby's hp when we are not around, she called back PH and made multiple calls in 30 min.
I installed this type of IP camera from my second maid onwards, she is more behaving knowing i have cameras at home.

I used to buy one top up card a week.. $20.

But i have a old nokia that is skype capable. I took out the sim card and put a sim pin on it. I link the setup to a skype account that i own (and monitor) and hook the phone to our home wireless lan.

$10 can call for as long as she likes.

Its a bonus her family have skype in the philippines and they can talk for free. I let her talk after she finish her housework and after 830pm.

The rule is she has to return the phone back into a box when she is done and not use it during the day unless she has my permission.
