He is curious in e beginning … But he may not be able to do certain activities in red cross due to his medical condition. So not sure how it will affect his ranking promotion. He’s also in a dilemma

May be he can talk to the teacher-in-charge to find out more.

        What was his first choice?

Hi, does anyone have any son in Secondary 3 this year? If yes, does he complain about the heavy work load? My son is taking triple Science + Literature (non RA). He is complaining he has so much homework and project work that he is comtemplating changing to another IP school. According to him the gap semester in Secondary 4 forces the syllabus to be compressed that he is given as many as 4-5 pieces of homework daily that leaves him with no time to revise the lessons or read ahead. How is everyone else coping? Help!! Thanks!

Same here. Stress level v high too. Lots of projects plus CCA commitments. And the hw is v v tough to do. The only \"help\" I could offer him is give him herbal tea, herbal soup, fav desserts and the occasional caffeine fix if he has to stay up late but has no more energy to do so. Always falling asleep on bus/mrt. Sob sob heartbreaking.

Many of his friends are in the same boat so don't worry too much.

My son is doing 3 sciences and history. Only heard of a Chinese project only. I notice he has more pieces of worksheets than yr 2. But like today, after a long day with CCA, he managed to complete hw and sleep at 10pm. But he said he's very tired. I don't follow his school work, not sure about the difficulty level  He said no need to have tuition, so I guess it's ok lah. He only revises during weekend.

Ok, thanks for sharing. I am worried because he seems to think changing school helps. I am at my wits' end. Hopefully he can be convinced by his form teacher. 🤷

My DS appeal at CCA was superficious. I was rather disappointed at the school for the way his case was handled. He was told to stay in Red Cross for another 6 months n see how things go. I thought I can let my DS handle the situation himself - in line with what e school wants. But the tr hardly hears him out n just told him to stay put.

Looks like the parents n doctor have to step in. If the school is looking for higher authoritative instructions (fr doctor) instead of listening out to the student when he appeals, then isn’t it quite sad?

If ultimately he has to switch, why can’t they make provision now instead of making waste 6 months of his time?

Did anyone appeal? Anyone knows of the success rate?

Hi Paddy, sorry to hear about your DS' CCA appeal.
Since your DS has a valid reason (medical), you should go ahead and talk to the teachers-in-charge (for both Red Cross & Water Polo or Drama) and explain to them your DS' condition, supported by a letter from the doctor. With the doctor's letter, I am sure the school will look seriously into your DS' appeal this time.. Good Luck!

DS got back 3 tests results yesterday… Math, Science Practical and 3rd Language…

DS did pretty well, surprisingly (full marks for 2 tests), consider that i hardly see him study…
DS says may know English and Chinese tests results today…
When I asked how he think he would fair, DS says ‘‘English 50-50 chance… Chinese sure fail!’’…
Heard from DS that the Chinese test was really tough… Wow, so RI DOES amphasise on Chinese!!!
