You are all going to flame me, but that's ok.

good to add some rational arguments here..

      And.. it does makes sense..

we shd not deprive them a place in the schools.. that I agree..

But maybe add more advantage to citizens.......? More than current ones..

They work in those jobs that paid miserably which Singaporean doesn't want and that is very big deal to our government.

        that, is not true..

They are snatching PMET jobs and causing wage suppression.. that is the big issue. but that is OT..

Some people convert to Singapore citizenship to enjoy Baby Bonus, ERS (shares), cheaper medical fees and cheaper school fees. In some cases, only one spouse converts but yet the child enjoys.
Good point you bought out.. and esp if it is the woman who convert coz got maternity leave and no NS.

I feel that they shd tweak the system.. For the converted woman, the hubby muz also convert to enjoy the full benefits of citizens. If the woman is citizen by birth, then no such restrictions.

This will clamp down on those leeching cases..

but anyway.. a bit OT.. 😉

            LOLMum:

i am in favour of disallowing places given automatically to children of pr/foreigners in phase 1 and the alumni phase. the second child of a pr should be in phase 2b onwards.
            agree with this

              Imagine this:

A Singaporean face to face with a Chinese from China (in a battle):
              S: 把枪放下,不然我就开枪!
              C: 不!你先放下!
              S:我还没成为新加坡公民时也是中国人呢!
              C:但你现在已经不是中国人了!
              S:不是中国人,但仍流着中国人的血呀!大家都是中国人,冤冤相报何时了啊?!
              C:既然如此,就别在打了!咱都是一家人嘛!就当我没见过你,你没见过我!我们后会有期!
              S:就这么说定!

It is factual that PR and new citizen may leave us when they feel situation elsewhere is better for them. But it is likewise for some of us local born, natural Singaporean, who may migrate to greener pasture after enjoying the fruits here.

PR, I understand. Afterall they do not identify themselves as Singaporean and stay loyal to their home country. They merely are here to work for a living for the time being. There was never plan in their mind to stay here for good.

by the way my foreign colleagues told me that even if they convert to singapore citizenship and gave up their country citizenship, they can still give up their singapore citizenship and get back their country citizenship if they feel they earn and benefit all they can for Sg.They told me \"don't be silly to think just because we convert to singaporean ,we can't get back our country citizenship.

Hmmm...correct me if I'm wrong but I thought both parents need to be converted before the kids can get the benefits similar to S'porean kids? No??

This is a common conundrum. Did you watch the show where there were folk becoming naturalised US citizens? One question asked, 'If you were asked to go to war with your previous country xxx, would you be willing to take up arms....\" or some such like.

Singaporeans becoming US/UK/Oz citizens will face the exact same issue, as will their host countries.

                      Its not just Singapore.

I totally agree with you on this. In fact, it isn't unique to Singapore or Singaporeans either. The lines are becoming blur. A closer example would be sports. President Ma is so proud about Lin being born Taiwanese, and you get the US telling - reminding him that he is American. 🤷
