2012 PSLE Discussions and Strategy

Mine still have homework this weekend. We ended up having to skip swimming and art classes. :frustrated:
Next four days are super stress days. Really wonder what DS would come up with?? He never fails to SHOCK me and his tutors somehow! Still hoping that it'll be a nice surprise for a change. -

I'm reminding myself over and over again...CA1 doesn't contribute to PSLE results...in the meantime, getting my son to practise vocab, cloze and comprehension during any possible slots...and hope he does ok. But I would say this is the first time I am relaxed compared to earlier years.Mine still have homework this weekend. We ended up having to skip swimming and art classes. :frustrated:

Glad to hear that you're not stress this time! :hugs:
True, PSLE result determine the posting of secondary one.
FYI, DD Secondary school did not even ask for the primary school report book.
(The result for CA1/SA1 is important if the child is trying for DSA)
I wish your DS all the best in this coming CA1 as well as the PSLE! :rahrah: :rahrah: :rahrah: -
Hi Brenda,
It's great to read your post again.
Most importantly, you are happy in your job. :rahrah:
I don't think my son will be trying for DSA. Not that CA1 isn't impt, but it is a test to see how he fares...knowing of course the paper will be set very hard.
It's definitely a different feeling when it is not so stressful as compared to prev years. -
Yes, Janet, remember this time last year… we were more stressed as parents of P5-ers!!
As DD revised for her maths exams yesterday, she said, "I’m studying for PSLE, right? Not for tomorrow’s exams, right?"
Am not going to go through DSA as we are still deciding which school meets our complicated criteria. So every exam is a trial for the big one - PSLE. -

Yes Peony, exactly 1 year ago, we were super stressed. However, it's really pointless to get worked up over a CA1 paper which doesn't contribute to PSLE.Yes, Janet, remember this time last year... we were more stressed as parents of P5-ers!!

My son was revising his grammar notes last night...he also said the same thing as your daughter. 'This CA1 not important right ? It's PSLE which is the BIG picture.' :faint: I had to correct him. 'CA1 is still important but PSLE is MORE important.' :slapshead: -
I told DD that all the lil' exams leading to PSLE are the \"trials\"/practises.
And yes, I still hope she'll do well in these trials... so there is less \"ketchup\"
-
Sure hope DS will make some improvements. It’s also about confidence building which will lead up to PSLE. It’s a strong motivation force.

I hope to see better results bcos CA1 is the first test since he started Science tuition last Nov. I hope to see him break out of that 60+ marks range for Science.I told DD that all the lil' exams leading to PSLE are the \"trials\"/practises.

Yeah... me too... I have my tongue in my mouth. I dun dare expect too much because I know he is still quite unprepared but I do hope he will do well. Even though I pretend in front of him that I don't really care.
