      Wenthena,

Oh dear. What did the poor boy do? Maybe you talk to him at home first?

      Pooh,
At least u know your boy won't be dehydrated. Hee..
His problem is that he doesn't mix well and prefers to be alone. So tcr was saying that he's pleasant when left alone but when he sits on the floor with classmates, he starts to get uncomfortable... So maybe a counsellor will be able to help him? Dunno.

          Wenthena,

Oh I see. Did you try talking to him? If he is not comfortable, then if it doesn’t affect much, will it be better to just let him ease in slowly at his own pace?

That's what I felt initially but then again, school is not only about academics. It's also how they socialize n interact with each other too. I see him still greet n be greeted by other fellow classmates happily and talking, so I guess it's just the physical proximity he's uncomfortable with while sitting down on the floor?

Yup. Try not to feel too stressed about it.

Children are very amazing. They will somehow rise to the occasion when the need arises. If he responds to classmates and all, I Think it’s good.

My son is also very shy. When his classmate calls him, he will hide lor!

Actually, I'm quite confused. Cos he looks so happy, calls friends n talks about them at home. Talk about doing this n that during recess and about sneaking to the library if have time. Then when I see him in school setting, he is usually talking to someone. So I wonder how come can be both sociable and antisocial at the same time...

And I guess the tcr's concern is when he uncomfortable, he acts out. Says stuff loudly and distracts the class. I can see how disruptive that is..

Children can sometimes have different personalities at different places. Eg, personality is different in school and at home.

With regards to sitting on the floor together, maybe the teacher can do something to address the issue first. Like letting him sit right in front, or at the side where he won’t feel cramped by classmates?
Then after a few days, slowly move him inwards bit by bit?

Maybe you can talk to the teacher a bit more in detail and ask if there are alternative solutions first.
