A friend working in RI (JC) said beside RGS and RI went into year 5, mostly St Nicks and Catholic High are among the cohort.

obvious...due to proximity....all these schools are nearby each other

I have the same concern as CupNoodle.

CupNoodle, I am in almost the same position as you. My DD has 252+1 and she is choosing Cedar IP as 1st choice. However, I see that the chance of getting in the IP track is not high.

She wants to choose Cedar 'O' level track as 2nd choice. I have no objection but I felt that with her score, she should try SNGS as 2nd choice. I am in a dilemma over SNGS or Cedar 'O' level. Personally, I'd prefer SNGS for its SAP, ie it will be more towards the Chinese culture.

So, have you or your DD decided which sch to go for?
              Hi Daranic,
How's yr daughter coping at Cedar Girls'? Hope all is well for her. Loads of h/wk,stressful or not there?

I think most of you out there have made a big mistake.

You guys cannot make a comparison of two schools by seeing
how many top scorers Cedar produced, as compared to the yearly top scorers SNGS produced, which usually don’t really include Singaporean girls.
A key note I wish parents know is tht cedar girls always produce the highest average L1R5 of ranging from 8.9-9.6 which means cedar produces MORE Girls with L1R5 of below 9 than SNGS. I wish parents are actually clear about this point and not judge cedar because they have no top scorers

actually, L1R5 is also not a fair comparison. Cedar does not take in affiliate girls that score below their COP (around 250, right?), while SNGS take in affiliate girls from their primary school section scoring as low as 211 (in some years). So the range of abilities of the intake for the 2 schools is already different, not quite fair to say which school produces better results just based on L1R5, IMHO.

I think both are equally good schools, difference is in school culture and proximity from home. And for the IP girls, which JC they end up in.

                        Hey,

I’m a student from Cedar, and to be honest, I don’t find it very healthy here. The teachers in Cedar are also rather exam-based. They don’t really care about the student’s well-being. Also, they don’t support freedom of speech, and don’t encourage debates. If you are considering on sending your daughter/son here, I suggest you to think twice. It is really stressful here. It may seem that it is a good school, in terms of COP, but the environment isn’t very healthy. Also, the school places heavy emphasis on sports, and also forces the students to jog every week under the hot sun. (Or twice, for upper sec)
