        Yes, DS took part in UNSW from p3 to p6. The school will keep the students informed on the dates for the test and collect payment from students who sign up.
        If u r keen on DSA for yr child in P6, getting distinction n high distinction is a plus for some of the academic DSA.

          thank you scm2 for confirming.

          will the school provide any additional coaching for students to attend these exams?
          how did your DS prepared and fared in the exams?

            WGPS did not provide any addiitonal coaching for students t take the assessment.
            For WGPS, the UNSW assessments are optional for the students so not everyone sign up.
            my DD did not take any of the UNSW assessments when she was in WGPS.
            DS signed up because his teacher encouraged the class to sign up. For us, the intention of letting him take the assessment was to have a gauge of how he fare in non-MOE test. It was only in P6 when applying for DSA that we found his UNSW results can be attached.

            It is not necessary to prepare for the assessment as the questions are not from the school syllabus.
            DS managed to get High Distinction and Distinction for all the UNSW math assessment P3 to P6. Sci and English not consistent; ranging from Participation to Merit and Distinction.

              scm2 your DS must be really good at studies to get distictions in UNSW assessments without any preparation.

              since you highlighted it starts from P3 onwards and its upto parents to let kids participate, I will let my DD participate to learn how different assessments are conducted. will give her a sense of competitiveness 🙂

              thank you for always coming forward to share information

                For P6 parents.

                WGPS used to paste posters/detials of secondary schools’ open houses at the back of the classroom or on the doors.
                That was what DS told me last year when he asked me to bring him to some of the open house and I asked him how he find out about the date.
                So tell your child to look out for these open house dates if you wish to find out more about the sec schools. Alternatively, there is a thread in this forum on the dates of open house. Some start as early as March.

                  JR, I just realized that I do not have a copy of the teachers working. My DD did not copy it 😞

                  She only has the answer in the method that I taught her, which is different from teachers method..

                  Do you have the working as the way teacher taught to the class? If yes, pls help to post here..
                  Here is my DS's working. Sorry for the delay. I have figured out what is 3U.

                      3+1u+3+1u = 5u

                      3u = 6
                      1u = 2

                      (6 x 2) + 3 = 15. Sister is now 15 yr old.

                        Hi scm2,

                        Yes, I also solved using this method. I have realized that there are different way of doing the model and the answer comes out to be same.

                        Just hope which ever method, kids learn..they should be comfortable with it 🙂
