will students be taught beyond their age level if they are not able to grasp yet ?

but if the students are able, why not ?

I still remember my resentment during primary school when maths was too basic for me … (but catch no ball for EL)

i suppose depends on which Secondary school your child heading for.

if your child is heading for NUS High type, perhaps P5 /P6 need to read in advance, because ...

end Sec 2 NUS High students' standard - is equivalent to GCE O level in mainstream Sec schools.
end Sec 4 NUS High students' standard - is equivalent to GCE A level in mainstream Sec schools.

if a child in P5 / P6 is heading for NUS High yet don't start read in advance, how ?
but if child heading for mainstream Secondary school, then perhaps no need lah.

The o and a level standards refer only to math and the three pure sciences. Additionally, we only cover elementary math and only a part of advanced math. It is also easier to understand because theory lessons have actual content, substance, whatever you call it unlike primary school lesson which use textbooks that are like \"chick lit\" (thks Chen for the quote). Furthermore, practical sessions, which are like all the time, help you visualize and fully comprehend the concept behind the reaction, result, etc. NUS high gradually guide her students from the spoon fed routine of primary school to the independent, accelerated pace of IP. Even Year 3 new students attend a bridging module.

So kindly verify your information/experience before making such broad, sweeping statements. This may mislead parents who view the school as a potential fit for their child and also creates a general misconception of the school. I know most of my class mates and seniors who are not accelerated in P5/P6 yet are coping very well. Life is certainly more interesting and exciting now.
Thank you for taking the time to read this 😄

                    holidays is holidays.

and that was like 20/30 years ago?
Riding bicycles after finishing homework...followed by dinner and then TV. What in the world is revision or assessment books ? I have not even stepped into popular before.

Ok lah, I had Chinese tuition bcos I did not understand what the teacher was talking about. But one assessment books only...used from jan to dec. I love those days. That was real childhood.

The first step shd be that all education/enrichment/tuition centers register with MOE, and introduce legalisation that license muz be obtained before they continue operation, and the licence is to be applied every, say, 2 years, subject to approval.

Then, slowly, introduce some guidelines and restrictions etc…

And then… if they cannot meet the guidelines or rules, stop issuing the licence…

Slowly, those "unnecessary" enrichment centers will be eliminated.

And Schooling children can have happy times again… as well as parents…

Those that excel will be those that are really bright or gifted… not well-trained and exam smart…
