phtthp:
NHPS still open for child born in 2007...thought most schools had already closed PV application, by end Dec 2011 last year.
what're some schools that are still open for PV today ?
Still thinking want to apply anot? :scratchhead: -
Power Puff:
Hi, as we have been informed recently in the news, some changes will be made pertaining to the P1 registration phases. However, I would like to know, just out of curiosity, how high my chances are if my girl applies to IJ St Nics being as a baptised Catholic (is that under Phase 2b?... think we live just outside the 2 km mark. Fat hope? Would love to send her to my old school but thinking about the distance factor. Son will be enrolling at Cat High so it makes for easier transport arrangement if daughter studies nearby.
If u stay outside 2km then u can forget abt St Nick under P2B...
Y not go to ur old sch? Where is it located and whr did u stay?
Bishan? As Cat High is near there  -
Hi mummyof3,
I live in Serangoon. Just checked…address is about 2.2 km away from St Nic’s. Who knows under the revised registration system, more spaces can be freed up under phase 2B as hubby, children and I are Catholics. My old primary school is in Bt Timah. Certainly would like my girl to go there but really, the travelling can be taxing. Apart from the shorter distance from home, I like that St Nic’s primary and sec schools are affiliated.
Hubby thinks I’m worrying too much and tells me to stay cool coz daughter will only enter p1 in 2017! Says we will ‘strategise’ only after the announcement comes, but will not entertain buying a property just to try to get kid into a school and risk not getting in. He is shocked that we even have a KiasuParents website in Singapore. -

Actually ur sch is affiliated also but the T-Score is higher.
St nick is going to be an IP sch so it will be hard to get in in future... -
mummy of 3: I think you're mistaken
My school's not affiliated with any sec school although it is popular. May I know which school BP. It's that hard to get into St Nic's now and even harder later? Too bad then. will just wait with fingers crossed like what many Singapore parents are doing now.
I was just nagging at my ds1 recently about how education is so important and to remind him to appreciate what we're doing for him and his sister coz in some countries, the children are starving and don't even have the chance to go to school, much less worry about top schools, blah blah blah. Sometimes, when I step back and think, we really are a 'complaint' lot. Probably conditioned from young to expect only the best. My close friend who's just returned from the US thinks all the competition, even in primary school enrolment is so ridiculous and unhealthy but no choice, we all either go with the flow, or just pack up and go. -

Heehee -- i also seat my ds1 and give him 'talks' too.... then sometimes, pull in ds2 and 'talk' together...

My dh gave up liao -- basically he is the family chauffeur - he will just go with my flow and 'pay' for watever as necessary and fetch the kids to wherever as necessary!

My DD1 is in BPPS as she got a place 2 days before orientation (She was ballot out during P2B)
So any schs ard ur area that is within 1 km? -
hi Power Puff,
is Ai Tong < 1km from yr house ? -
:stupid: My current home is about 2.5 km from Ai Tong. Actually, I have a Bishan unit being rented out. It is within 1 km from Cat High and about 1.2 km from Ai Tong (we moved back to parents' house a few years ago to take care of them). Hubby and I are not Hokkiens, too late for pv, and we prefer our kids to study in Catholic schools where possible.
Erm...if any one is interested in renting my Bishan flat to increase your chances of getting kids into CHS or AT, let me know. hahaha. Will probably get flamed by some parents!! When we first bought the place 10 years ago, we didn't even think so far ahead, thought it was a given that our children, if we had any, would enter our old schools anyway. In fact, didn't even think about having children coz we were very attached to our pets.
Will adopt a wait and see attitude. What else to do? Uproot family, rent a place super close to St Nic's and pray dd2 will get in? Then who will take care of parents? If dd2 cannot get in then we're stuck in that unit and still have to drive past that school everyday for at least 1 year :stupid: So many what ifs..decisions..decisions..migraines -
Hi Power Puff,
I live in Serangoon too and I have a 2007 boy.
Am just wondering whether are you considering Yang Zheng Pri??
It should be within 1km.
