:yikes:
Suddenly I start to appreciate my super thick glasses -
Joule:
I would choose all of the above, except the 4th item (child sick and die...), over the cockroach.. as I am really very terrified of cockroaches!!! :yikes: :scared:  :faint:actually this is not worst experience
worst experience is
break up with gf / bf
divorce from husband / wife
bankrupted / in dept
child sick and die and there's little you can do
fail exam
rejected for job
and so on.....
between these things and getting a cockroach flying into your eye...
I really would choose the cockroach -
Went to NZ for a holiday in June 03 with my dh - drove to Milford Sound. On the drive there, we had to go through a tunnel that is absolutely dark (no lights at all except for your car’s headllight - and you cant even see your fingers!) plus cos it was right smack in winter - there was not much cars…
Finally, we saw light at the end of the dark tunnel and the moment we came out, it was the most magnificant snowy mountain sight that greeted us. I commented "so beautiful’ and dh got the cue and wanted to park by the side (small space) so that we can take photo. But suay, cos it was winter, the road (at the side) was covered in ice. Hence, the moment the car hit the ice, it went into auto gliding mode towards the mountain edge/gourge!
I could see my life flash past as we approach the mountain gourge - i tot the car was going to fall off the mountain!!
At that last instant, the ice suddenly glided it to a big block of ice at the end of the gouge - the car hit it! n stopped!!
We got out - looked at the really close shave - thanked God - pushed the car onto the main road and just drove at 15km (along the mountain) for the rest of the holiday!!
It was soooooooooooo terrifying - that flash of your life moment!! -
Yup, agree… life’s worst experience is when you are in a car with your family and another car hits yours, sending your car hurtling towards a tree! Everything goes slow-mo I tell you… and I couldn’t help but start crying when we managed to crawl out of the wreckage relatively unscathed…praise the Lord!

I can emphathise with those of you who’s had encounters with the creepy crawly kind.
About 15 years back, I had just finished soaping myself. Reached for the shower head to prepare for a rinse-off when something jumped onto my neck. I couldn’t see what it was exactly (very high degrees so super blind), screamed, crashed out of the shower cubicle and slipped and fell. Turned out that the pervert was a fat polka-dotted lizard. Really dislike these lizards. Especially when they make the ‘kekeke’ sound. -
oops…that’s not life’s worst experience…should be life’s funniest/ scariest experience?
-
Yeah, I guess the worst experiences for most pple would be those that involve some kind of trauma - mental, physical, sexual etc… or the death or near-death of someone they love.

This thread brings me back to when I was a child, abt 5-6 yrs old.
i remembered vividly on that day, my Aunt came to visit us from overseas.
As i was short, i could not see my Aunt when standing on the ground of my wet kitchen
(an extension unit of the house enclosed with a low wall),
i found myself a stool and up i hopped on it.
While i was merrily waving goodbye to my Aunt, i dunno how I toppled and fell over the wall.
My head hit the sharp edge of a small drain.
Gosh !!!! blood was seen oozing out profusely from my head,
and my vision was blurred by the flowing blood and i could literally felt that my forehead was wet.
i was screaming and crying loudly while my parents rushed me to the hospital......
till date, the image of nurses and doctor trying to stitch my forehead is still so fresh in my mind.
i have been thinking if i were to live in a high-rise flat, i wouldnt be alive now talking to u all...... :scared:

Hi Augmum, yes, you were very fortunate indeed! Not once, but twice, when I was sitting in my primary school bus, I saw legs sticking out from under the police tent at the foot of the apartments (I remember Lake View and the other one was at Farrer). One of the fallen victims was a young girl. My friends and I were swinging on the handrail like monkeys when we saw those legs. We were so scared, we stopped playing in the bus for a few days.
Sometimes when I look up at all the new modern condos and see the open balconies I wonder whether there are kids in the units up there and fear for their safety. I used to live on a very high floor with a wonderful view but installed grills because of my ds who was learning to crawl. Whenever I read of stories about young children falling down from great height I just think it’s so tragic, all the more because that could have been prevented. -
