:stupid: My current home is about 2.5 km from Ai Tong. Actually, I have a Bishan unit being rented out. It is within 1 km from Cat High and about 1.2 km from Ai Tong (we moved back to parents' house a few years ago to take care of them). Hubby and I are not Hokkiens, too late for pv, and we prefer our kids to study in Catholic schools where possible.

Erm...if any one is interested in renting my Bishan flat to increase your chances of getting kids into CHS or AT, let me know. hahaha. Will probably get flamed by some parents!! When we first bought the place 10 years ago, we didn't even think so far ahead, thought it was a given that our children, if we had any, would enter our old schools anyway. In fact, didn't even think about having children coz we were very attached to our pets.

Will adopt a wait and see attitude. What else to do? Uproot family, rent a place super close to St Nic's and pray dd2 will get in? Then who will take care of parents? If dd2 cannot get in then we're stuck in that unit and still have to drive past that school everyday for at least 1 year :stupid: So many what ifs..decisions..decisions..migraines

        Hi Power Puff,

I live in Serangoon too and I have a 2007 boy.

Am just wondering whether are you considering Yang Zheng Pri??

        It should be within 1km.

          Hi autumnbronze,

Thank you for your suggestion. DS1 will most likely be enrolling into hubby's old school instead. Thankfully, the school is quite nearby, about 10-12 mins drive so don't think it's an issue unless MOE does something very drastic to the P1 Reg alumni phase 2A 🙏 After all that P1 enrolment thing, then have to stress over preparation for PSLE, post secondary, uni... Long tedious journey. AAAAAARRRGGGH. But then again, that is parenthood, in Singapore context.

Are you thinking of enrolling your kid (ds or dd) into Yangzheng? Think there's Zhonghwa, St Gabriel's, CHIJ OLGC nearby.

I used to be amused when my friends and acquaintances expressed their concerns over the P1 reg and how a few of them bought or rented places to try to get their kids into preferred schools because they are non-amumni members...It is only now that my own kid is entering P1 soon that I can emphathise with such kancheong parents. Feel so ashamed now

Was playing with Dd2 and seeing her laugh so happily just now..can't believe I'm anxious about her P1 registration already. Got to be careful and manage my emotions, otherwise the stress will be rubbed off on the kids who really should be enjoying every inch of their childhood now.

After reading some of the threads related to pre-school curriculum and enrichment programmes (making me realise that I've been rather laidback), am glad that KSP has some light-hearted threads like incl fav korean drama (I confess I am a fan!)...watching korean drama shows is part of my me time after kids go to bed, helps keep me sane 🙂 Sorry, off-topic!!

            Hi Power Puff,

            Tee hee hee :hi5:

            Same sentiments.

            I am pretty laid-back too.

My DS1's kindy doesn't even have spelling nor ting xie. In fact, I am
strongly veering towards taking him out of there to home school him and sign him up for non academic classes. It's not that the kindy is doing a bad job, on the contrary, it's not too bad. It's just that he is getting ill, ie cough
and cold practically very month. It's been happening since N1. And every
time he is ill, he misses school for up to 2 weeks cuz I want him to recover
and not pass on the virus to others. The coughs can get really nasty sometimes.

Yes, Yang Zheng is a school that I am considering. I have also applied for
PV in a school near our 2nd property. But we may not enroll DS1 there if we feel the culture may not suit him. More important are the transport logistics and the fact that we are really happy in the current place we are staying in. It's near amenities plus Lor Chuan MRT. And my PILs live a
stone's throw away, and so if I decide to go back to work part time, he can always walk over to his grandparents' place after school. Hence, moving out will be a hassle and we really have to think hard whether we want to take that step. And no, we also don't believe that we MUST move near a school in order to get DS1 there as results are not based on that criteria alone.

Yup, I go to Playground and Notti corner to de-stress too 😉 🕺

            😄 😄

              hi Power Puff,

CHIJ St Nicholas phase 2B, for baptized Roman Catholic :-

              no balloting for 2009.

              however for 2010 and 2011 -
there was balloting for applicants living < 1km, hotly contested.

                Hi phtthp,

Thanks for the info. Hey, I just remembered that my dd2 is a Tiger baby. Perhaps there will be a lot less competition for p1 spaces in 2017 :rahrah:

Hi everyone, I’ve just joined this forum and would really appreciate if I could get some advice regarding the P1 registration.

I hope to enrol my son(born in 2007) into ACS(either primary or junior as I am staying within 1 km of both schools) .I am currently serving in the NC/grassroots which puts me into phase 2B FOR ACS Primary.

However for ACS Pri ,balloting is required even for 2B. Assuming if this 2B balloting fails, would phase 2C (ACS Pri )still be available ? Or should I try for phase 2C for ACS Junior ?

If both fail, what shd my next step be ?

Pls give me some advice. thanks !

Based on past years' statistics, you should be safe for both schools in P2B.

Again, based on past years' statistics, ACJS seemed safer in P2C.

You will only be able to register with a school that still has vacancy in P2CS.

Please refer to the balloting statistics for more information:
