      Tough Cookie:
May I ask how late do your girls sleep every night ? When my dd was in year 1, her sleeping time was constantly a subject of disagreement between us. I always wonder what percentage of her sleeping late habit is due to RGS culture and what percentage is owing to their teenage years ( some say teenage brains are not structured to sleep early??!!)

Oh, if i can sleep at 10.30pm(unless it's a friday)i would be like WOOOHOO! I'm not sure why, but i know most of my friends stay up very late too. Whether it's homework or assignment, revision(not enough time for homework already...><)or just don't want to sleep, it seems like i've been sleeping later and later these days too.

Now it's more like a norm, as in even during holidays or weekends my body is already adjusted to sleeping at 12am or 1.30am(i don't do this on weekdays!)so i sleep around that time too. But can wake up later so it's fine:)

it depends on time management I guess! this year the earliest I've slept is 5pm and the latest 3am. but generally I sleep between 12-1! my parents used to argue with me over this but I guess after a while they got used to it? to be honest sometimes it isn't about the workload I mean we do sidetrack and all but I guess I would characterise my teenage years with all those late night talks where people just confess it all and you have honest conversations... I don't exactly have any regrets sleeping late other than the next morning waking up. after all you're only young once! I know such a viewpoint is controversial with parents so yea just trying to give your daughter's POV ><

          Hi Dione, Snow Crystal,
EESIS is not Affected by DSA.
If the PSLE Score is amongst Top 1/3 in IS, EESIS Will be Awarded, Regardless of DSA, or Not. 😂
          Thanks Funx3!

At Year 1 the girls should be able to go to bed by 10 or 10.30, inclusive of 'me time'. If they're still doing homework at midnight, it's more likely because they've been distracted by facebook or SMSes or Whatsapp. The workload and commitments are going to build up in Year 2 and up, so if they're struggling with homework past midnight at Year 1, it's not a good sign.

My DD goes to bed by 10:30pm, jtoh you are spot on, DD goes to bed late not because of schoolwork (at least not yet), it is likely because she is on FB, chatting with her classmates.

haha, i told my dd, you are only young once and have maybe 3-4 years more to grow taller, once you pass this window period, that's it. so she happily go to bed becos she knows growth happens when a child is sleeping :)!

Bedtime of 10 to 10.30 pm may seem quite alright but if one were to wake up at 6 am, it works out to be only 8 hours of sleep…for a child of 12 plus is too little!!

Thanks to the seniors’ confirmation here, I long suspect the social scene comes alive after the parents have gone to bed. As the years go by, the "night party" online becomes more and more interesting, right?

Yes, yes! Ha ha, my dd has finally mastered the art of sleeping anytime, anywhere this year… one of the essential skills of a true blue RG girl.

Sleeping at 10, 10.30 becomes a luxury the night before a PT is due.

Do you mums feel obliged to stay up late to keep your girls company?
