2012 PSLE Discussions and Strategy

Well, first you go through his papers and try to pinpoint his weak areas. For example in English, many students have problems with the cloze and comprehension. For Science, it might be that the weakness is in Booklet B - maybe he is not sure of his facts and concepts, maybe he is not using key words in answering the questions. For Math, he might have a problem with problem sums. Once you have more or less identified his area of weakness, you can start focussing on those. Hope this helps!

My son's science improved slightly...got out of 60 marks range :rahrah: Hit 70. For maths, he finally passed and I am setting 75 for SA1. He should be able to hit if he focus and be more careful and practise.

Yes sometimes, it happens that way, practising a lot in a subject may lead to improvement in that subject at expense of other subjects. But she sounds like a diligent girl :imanangel:...give her a pat for the improvement in Math and Science. Just re-focus a bit more on her languages and they will improve... Still have some time...DD did better than expected for maths and science but her languages slid.
Perhaps coz she's been regularly revising both her maths and science but not her language subjects.

Hi ladies,
Thanks for your sweet words... :grphug:
Oh, he's definitely motivated and I have to gently pull him down to earth again and remind him that there is SA1, prelims and PSLE.
He had 48 for MCQ and 22 for open-ended section...a bit scary that he just passed the OE section. But biggest consolation is passing Math...bcos the whole of last year, he literally flunked this subject.
Hi Essential,
His MCQ pulled him up slightly. For Science, this section cannot tikam tikam...and only section he can score in. I cannot comment yet bcos he has not brought any papers home for us to see.
