      Jennifer:

Such pencil cases are very noisy leh. My younger boy's FT forbade metal ruler too.

There is a bookshop at Beauty World Centre. Will confirm by Sunday if the selection is good.
oh ya..i forgot about the noise. ds1 want something box-like. i don't quite fancy those rectangular plastic ones with flaps on both sides (very popular in our olden days). unless there are good plastic retangular ones...
are you visiting the basement stationary shop at beauty world? Thanks!

hi, i just bought my son Deuteur at Kiddy Place Tampines (Century Sq). Its on promotion. Usual price was $119 now selling at $99 (Scholar S Act). It is lightweight compared to those branded ergonomic bags. They r abt the same price. I think it is just nice for my P1 boy.

        Tks for sharing!
What's the diff btw Scholar S Act & Genius, etc?

I saw those plastic boxes type (not the flap ones, looks like the metal ones but it's in plastic) at pasar malam selling all those cartoon character stuff. Maybe you can check out any pasar malams near you?

Oh ya, sometimes Popular has them too.

I usu. go window shopping there while waiting for #2 to finish his class.

Your boy likes plain design or hero-design ones?

I used to own one of those double sided pencil box- think there was a ejectable drawer too.

any body know where in the west can i look for good range of metallic pencil cases? TQ!

DD had one too at the beginning of the year. It was FOC and came in a pack of stationery. However, it had a very short life cos the moment you drop it, there is a high chance something will become misaligned, and DD couldn't close it properly again. Even before that, the \"latch\" wasn't tight so the box can still pop open in her bag and everything will spill out.

Eventually, we settled on the zippered (thick) fabric kind. The only thing that can go wrong is for the zip to spoil but the chances of that happening under DD's hands should be low. Since your DS1 seems to take better care of his stuff than my DD, why not get him the zippered one instead? It is also much, much lighter.

hm...what classes do they have there? i only know that is a kumon.
my boy doesn't like hero-design. he likes spongebob though πŸ˜›
those pencil box with drawer are very fancy, can never afford that when younger, but now find that it is very bulky for the kids.

we had one 'snoopy' plastic pencil case that comes in a stationary set too; my boy complained that it is too small (he keeps alot of junk!)
he is currently using a zippered one (plastic kind) and he said he wants to change box type cos he wants to see all his stationary lined up nicely... 😐

It's actually funny because boys at this age are also very particular about their stationery. My son as well.

He has a big zipper type where he keeps all his color pencils.

He also has a box pencil that I bought from Shanghai (seems to be more popular there). But from time to time, he likes to change his pencil case.

I was waiting at the school bookshop yesterday, KS trying to buy 2010 books. It was before the bell go off, within that 30 mins, the bookshop business is really great. I think there were at least 90 kids who went there and bought something. Mainly glue, stickers, colored papers, erasers. Boys and girls they are all crazy about stationery. There was only 1 guy manning the shop at that time and I told him to attend to the kids first as I can wait. Haha I didn't expect the steady stream of customers and so I had a long wait.

My DS used to have the \"cloth-zipper type\" pencil case. However his erase, ruler and pencils would come back stained, dirty, etc. This is because they are in close contact in the pencil case and roll all over the place.

3 months back, we swopped to the hardcase double sided pencil case. It's so much better as his stationeries are held in the right place. And he selected some key colour pencils (instead of a whole separate box) and place them in the opposite side. It's so much more organised and clean now.

However I must admit that when the things get more with others like scissors, glue, etc., we would have to reorganise. This is a smaller matter, we'll handle it when it comes πŸ˜„ Now if the hardcase double sided pencil suits the need, that'll be it for now.

Exactly. Once a while I will wipe the inside with a wet wipe. Gosh, so dirty. I could hv bou pencil caps but knowing #2's style, these small little caps are bound to disappear every now and then.

Maybe I should try the double flap box type. Then might need another small pouch for stapler, scissors and other knick knacks.
