Parent pays nearly $6,000 a month in tuition fees

If a private school offers a better curriculum and teaching method for O and A levels, I would rather send my kid to that school than stay in a government school. There is something wrong with the education system if parents need to tax their children with more school work outside of regular school hours. There will be little time to play and be creative.
My sister's daughter suffered a nervous breakdown because she constantly worries about her grades. It has come to a point where she is seeing a psychologist to help manage her anxieties. She attends all kinds of tuition classes and enrichment programmes. Did quite well in school but this took a toll on her mental well-being.
It looks like the girl may be looking into other options as she is currently unfit to continue with her A levels in the junior college. But her mom is quite adamant that she goes to a good university...
Anyway, I read that the London Edexcel IGCSE 'A' level course at Insworld Institute is structured such that each subject is divided into 6 units with examinations held every 6 months. Students can choose any number of units and are allowed to re-take examinations. The results are then accumulated as a full 'A' level certificate. So perhaps no need to cram so much info in the brain for 2 years before taking exams....Also, the school seems to have produced students that went to the Imperial College, UCL, Uni of Warwick, Uni of British Columbia etc...Perhaps it is something that my friend can consider. The girl has already done 1 year in JC so maybe can get advance standing to complete her A level.
Any comments other suggestions?
My friend's son is taking his A level with MDIS as he failed his JC 1.He said the private school is so much better than his JC.His lecturers are good and the timing is quite relax. The fee is ex though. -
This is madness. Some pople cannot even afford normal school fees and here we have people spending 6k a month on extras.
I am curious where the child finds the time to have all those classes at Sec 3! -
ER:
ER, it isn't madness. Everything is relative. What is madness is if you get some rich folks paying for some services LESS than what you have to pay, and/or getting scholarships that would deprive others who could not afford - THAT IS the MADNESS of today's society - any society in fact. This is madness. Some pople cannot even afford normal school fees and here we have people spending 6k a month on extras.

Madness is when there is more than 1 person clicking on the YES button...

This amt could just be the monthly depreciation of a 1M car for the rich. Their kid's education is definitely more important than the car. Anyway i don't even bother as i know if we start comparing and there will be no end to it.
There should one more choice up there - Can't be bothered -
haha…but but but, at the end of the day, parents are still sending your kids to tuition right???

If you add 'IF I CAN AFFORD IT' , you'll surely get more clicks!!!

Even if you can afford it, can the child take it? They'll burn out in no time. Madness! -

\"Her son is a straight A student in a top boys' school here yet this mother spends $5,800 a month on his tuition....
To top it off, she pays people to do her son's homework when he can't cope with the combination of school and tuition assignments.
She pays $200 per hour if they have to swing by before midnight and $250 an hour when it's later...\"
Something is seriously wrong here... :yikes:
Fast forward 20 years.
Let us see this parent pay top dollars to solve the precious son's marriage problems, failure as a son, husband and father, dishonesty at work, incompetency in managing his personal finances, brushes with the law etc etc.
