Chandelier:
In this case, means 30% for the 2 assignments & 70% for the test. For CF, usually more components- compos, letter writing & compre are included in the assignments.Jeannie12:
Does anyone know if there are more than 1 test plus assignment for the subject how do they get aggregated ? Eg I noticed that for language arts there are 2 assignments and a test which adds up to >100%. Thanks.
Yeah jeannie12 u r right. For ELL, e 2 assignments weightage is 30% each n e actual test is 70%. DS told me for CF, some class assignments also included in e total MSG. -

:thankyou: pinky88! That means so as long e boys hit 75 (A1) for all term 1-3 on that particular subject, he will be exempted from that subject year end (EOY) right? Don't have to be high end A1 right? Then how about infocomm? Understand infocomm no EOY... TIA

Hi Chandelier, yes...so long as u hit 75 thru the 3 terms, ur overall grade for that subject will b A1. The school will give students a letter ar sept indicating which subjects they r exempted fm. FYI, the yr end final progress report only reflects the grades, no indication of marks.
For infocomm, there's no EOY exams. The 70% comes from project that the teacher allocate. Usually the teacher will let the boys noe their overall marks prior to the release of the yr end results.

Hi Pinky88
So is the 3rd lang result to be automatically added into the MSG for every term? As for the exemption from EOY exam, does that also mean exemption from test in T4? Or there is only exam in T4? Is this exemption still on a case by case basis even though a pupil may score A1 for a subject from T1 to T3? I am just thinking that for those who have a perfect MSG of 1 throughout need not take the ECY exam at all. I believe there will be such pupil. Btw what is CF?
Sorry to keep asking you so many questions. Hope you donโt mind.
Thanks -

No worries, yamatomato. It's my pleasure to help. If e student scored A1 in the 3rd lang, then it'll be included in the MSG calculation, otherwise, it'll not be inclusive in the MSG. So at least it's not so stressful for the boys. But prior to the 3rd lang EOY exam, e boys hv to opt whether to include the 3rd lang results in the overall msg.Hi Pinky88

Exemption is only for the EOY exams, if there are some test in T4, the student still hv to take. 2 yrs ago, there's no test in T4 but last yr there were some changes & some subjects like chinese do hv T4 test. In this case, they will take the 30% from T1-T4.
Oh i miss out sthg on the exemption, besides the results, the oral participation for the subject must oso be A1. So if u hit A1 both written & oral then u'r exempted, no case by case basis.
Yes, there r boys with perfect msg n was exempted for the EOY exam especially in sec 1 which is much easier to achieve.
CF is chinese, not sure wat it stand for exactly. -

Wow then thats a bit tough...for written to score A1 not very difficult, but to score A1 in oral.... :slapshead: CF stands for Chinese as First language -

Hi Pinky88,
Refer to your comments above on the 3rd lang MSG. You mentioned that only if the student scored A1 in the 3rd lang, then it will be included (that I understand the computation will hence be total score divided by 7 subject?). Then what is this option to include 3rd lang in the MSG? Are you saying that if prior to the EOY exam, if one is to indicate to include 3rd lang but if results end up to be worse off then A1, then it will not be included. And conversely, if it is not to be included but ended up with an A1, it will automatically be included. I am confused.
Thanks again -
yamatomato:
The option to include 3rd lang is only for the EOY exam, so u only opt for it to be included if u r v confident that u'll do well & oso ur T1-T3 3rd lang results must b gd too, otherwise it's gonna pull down ur overall msg. Once u opt to include, it will be added to ur yr end msg regardless of ur score. In another words, it's a gamble. Hope this clears ur doubt. If e student scored A1 in the 3rd lang, then it'll be included in the MSG calculation, otherwise, it'll not be inclusive in the MSG. Anyone know if it is possible to change password of i-comp for student logon ? Could only find it under parent logon on but there seem to be no such feature at student logon?

Thank you Pinky88 for the clarifications.
