I have been reading faithfully at these PSLE discussions quietly, in the hope of preparing myself mentally in 2 years time. Never did I least expect the waves to sweep me so fast. Gal came back from her CA1 Maths yesterday. Told me many of the students cried as the test was super hard. Even, before the start of the paper, t informed that this paper is hard. What sort of mentality is T trying to create in these little 10 years old mindset before the start of the paper ? :siao:

Sigh... cannot wait for the paper to be returned.. Just when I thought that her confidence in Maths is building up, she is being brought down again, by an exceptional tough paper ...

So that parents and students get panic mode and they will start to pump in more tuition. LOL!!! After that can pull up the school PSLE score. LOL

      *Joking only lah* :please:

It's not a joke. It's dead serious. Principals' bonuses and Teachers' promotions are at stake. Our tuition money funds others' careers and our kids work like slaves.
😄

setting killer question papers…Wake up call for the parents to outsource tuition/tutor… I really see this in this way only.

If the school thinks they can set a very tough/challenging question paper, why can’t they teach at the similar level. Although it is deafening to hear this again and again, could not stop asking this question.

DD's entire class failed the CA Maths test. She was still feeling \"proud\" because she had 2nd highest marks in the class at 18 out of 50!! I just saw the paper and even the MCQ was ridiculously difficult. DD only manage to get 2 correct!!

Sigh, don't understand Singapore schools anymore. It's really feels like a competition for which school can set the most difficult paper and who can demoralize children more effectively. DD has become so used to failing and thank God she still has her self-esteem intact and able to look for what areas she has done well.

Mind if I ask which school is this?

          Cannot say so publicly lah....

DD will be taking PSLE in 2013.

Actually, I am already stress thinking of it. Keep hearing friend and colleagues said that it is a BIG jump from P4 to P5. Am so worry now. DH said I boliao.

Hope to have support from all mommy & daddy here. :celebrate:
            Hi Mrs Seah,

Wow.. You already start looking out for sec schools & planning to attend open house. I thought your DD will be taking her PSLE in 2012. Not aware that she is P5 this year. How is her CA1? Most of their marks drop. However, they will pick up by SA1. P5 also tend to have more homework & supplementary classes too. Schools already start preparing them for PSLE. The standard goes up (PSLE standard) & the marking gets stricter.

hahahaha kiasu lor. 😛 LOL!!! Next year than she take PSLE.

Her CA1 drop alot. Since her whole class also drop alot, even \"top 1%\", also drop. I take it easy. 😛

If her result never pick up...by SA2, my expectation for selection of secondary school also must drop. LOL!!!!

Oh my girl has 3 days of supplementary class + 1 day of CCA. She said she is more BUSY than me. LOL!! She said I have better life. Come back from work can google internet liao. She come back from school still have to do homework. LOL!!!!

Hi Mrs Seah, Expectation for selection of secondary schools does not need to drop so soon. She is only in P5 & she still have time to pick up. Since top 1% also drop, don't have to panic. They need time to adjust to the higher standard. Some will pick up by SA1 & some of them will have to wait till SA2. Now can get her to revise her P3 & P4 Science already. Don't have to wait till next year. Tell her that she can google Internet after PSLE! :rotflmao:

When DS’ results dropped in P5, last year, I did not take it easy. We worked very hard to bridge the gap because we were heartened by the fact that we still had time to work hard.

The result of the very intensive hard work was that by end-February, we had completed the PSLE syllabus. I don’t regret doing that because it really helps stress levels this year from now until PSLE. Now, it is a question of consistent practice and refinement. It’s better to panic early than late… IMHO.

Today n tomorrow is psle sa1 oral in dd’s school. So she’s staying home for 2 days doing e-learning. She’s still stuck to the computer doing her e-homework since 10 am in the morning.

Is this arrangement the same for any of your P5 kids?
