oh… my son brigns the art bag every wed and he says he loves art… not every time but got a few times, he wrote in his handbook need bring scissors and glue and more recently, bring water colour and palette and a small brush. So i just pack accordingly… I even pack extra brushes in case he wanna share with friends…

But he have been telling me on and off about watching Sun Wu Kong ( Monkey god) videos during chinese lessons… And when i ask him is it he watch sun wu kong everyday, he says one of the 2 chinese teachers that teach them will only let them watch the video instead of lessons… omg!! he says got 2 teachers… one tall, one short… the tall one i think will only conduct lessons with the monkey god videos… did your son say that too?

sigh sigh… i guess as mummies we cannot run away from feeling guilty… There is just too much stuff that we could have done but we did not… I wished I read to them more… that I started phonics earlier… that i spoke chinese to them more… but when it comes to actually doing those things… its really very tiring… Imagine after a hard day at work, they ask for you to sit down and read a story, or paint, or draw or play clay… I’m so guilty of just saying" another day can?"

Ya! Me too! Always guilty! The glue and scissors I saw. I bet my son didn’t copy the water colour and palette. Must scold him. Hahaha.

I should have read more to him too. Teacher feedback that he can’t read fluently. Which is bad. Now wanna get him to read like cutting flesh off him like that. faint

sob sob... Mine teh teacher did not elaborate much on his academic performance.. only that he 'meets expectations' for his age.. the whole focus of the PTM was his behaviour.. sad man! :yikes:

I think the teacher should try to help your son improve first. Instead of suggesting councillor. If he is uncomfortable with the tight space.

Maybe u can suggest he sit in front of the group, at the side, or even just at his own desk. Then slowly move him forward. Will that help?

Mine she also say academic meeting expectation. But the test result I see already wanna faint.

                BlackVelvet:
                Hi,

My son (in P3 this year) has been getting $1.50 for the last 2 years. He tells me it's not enough only when he has the mixed rice for recess - rice portion more than the food. If he patronises the other stalls, he'll usually have a few cents to save.
The Malay stall can be quite expensive for the kids. Their chicken rice is a pathetic small plate of rice with 3 thin slivers of chicken breast. Any extra will add up quite a bit. So my DS buys from Mix n Match instead where the portion is better and doesn't cost an arm. I am a lazy mummy, used to pack food for him (when I was still working) but now I ask him to buy from the canteen. :snooze:

My son is forever eating fishball noodles.

So, some day, I will let him pack bread for recess.

                      Hi Wenthea,

Sorry saw your msg late - think your son should be in Morning Star by now.

For school holidays, just let him dress in home clothes, but put on shoes with socks - normal outing or school shoes will do. So that he can play outdoors.
No need to pack extra food as everything will be under Morning Star - that’s why we pay extra $25 a week for holidays to cover the extra meals etc.

For school holidays, in Morning Star, they do arts and craft or other research work assigned by the centre. Like last year, March holiday, they did Charlotte’s Web (did the play, craft on the play as well as read the story and watched the movie). June, they did Japan - so they learnt something about Japan everyday like food, clothes, a few new words, musical instruments, weather etc etc. Sept, they did the book Wizard of Oz. Dec, they did Egypt. This holiday - I remember reading the leaflet on the topic too, but I seriously can’t remember now.

For holidays, mornings, they do the special project - depending on what the topic is given by Morning Star. Afternoon, they will concentrate on usual activities like completing their homework etc. So, if your son finishes his holiday homework set by his P1 teacher, then better to let him bring some assessments to do in his free time there.

                      Hope this helps.

                        Hi eetsc,

Wow! This is VERY helpful! :goodpost:

Yea my son in morning star already.. And I guess the only toot one in full school uniform! Hopefully no one will 😆 at him. :rotflmao:

He finished ALL his homework last friday before coming home.. So I guess i need to prepare assignments for him.

But based on what you say, it sounds really fun! At least they use their time constructively. I feel so guilty that all other kids are going on holidays, going theme park, and other activities but then i stuck at work, my boy in morning star... 😢
