beanbear:
I will observe whether the child's cough is triggered by mucus in the nose or not. If it's related to the nose, then I will also supplement with a homeopathic nose spray or another supplement which is targeted to loosen mucus instead of sambucus.

If the cough persists, I use Hart Tongue herb which is what I get from my naturopath. For my family, Hart Tongue has been very effective for dry persistent cough and usually it works just after 2 days.

My experience is that Herbal remedies work very well when you use at the ONSET of the symptoms but it's also careful monitoring of different symptoms and whether there are new symptoms.

I'm not a doctor or naturopath so pls discern what's appropriate for your child and research more about the use of herbal remedies because if your child has allergies, they can also have strong reactions to herbs too. I learnt alot also from my naturopath and my children have done very well with herbal remedies. But I must add that herbal supplements or remedies are not easy to consume because of the strong taste. So far my kids have been very cooperative even though they can't stand the taste but they continue to cooperate because they have experienced how quickly they recover.
      Hi beanbear!
Naturopathy is a \"path\" that I have neither tried nor heard from any close family/friends on it... But thanks for your sharing, at least learn that there are other alternatives worth exploring. :rahrah:

Just to share, My boy is prompt to dry consistent cough. I read and found out this remedy of making honey drink (spoonful of honey mix with lukewarm water), so far it works well. 😄
hey, if you don't like the taste, get those pills form ones. no taste. just swallow the pills.

Hmm...didn't know got come in those form. Where can I get it?

There are lots of Omega 3 pills out there that is suppose to bring out the essence of fishes. They say if you cook the fish, you destroy the omega 3 which is suppose to be good for your child's brain development. That's why Japanese eat Sashimi (eat fish raw)

There are also flaxseed pills that are Omega 3 and are vegetarian.
True. Flaxseed are good source of Omega 3.

Hi, there are so many different types of fish oil supplements under Nordic Naturals. How do you know which one to pick? :scratchhead: By age? Thanks.

How old are your kids? For 7-8 yrs & below, it is advisable to only give flaxseed oil. Barlean’s is a safe brand. For older kids, you can start with fish oil. I give my older girl "Oceans Kids" by Garden of Life.

My DS is 9 years old. He is currently on Child’sLife fish oil. He always complains about the taste. Thought of switching to Nordic Naturals but unsure which product is better. Is Nordic Naturals only carried at VitaKids? Anywhere else available?

Between Child's Life & Nordic Naturals, I will go for the latter. NN is sold in other healthstores as well. Avail on iherb too which is way cheaper.

I used to give my girls NN. But was advised to give \"Oceans Kids\" by Garden of Life by my naturopath. They are chewables. Btw, Garden of Life products are extremely safe & effective. I personally take their probiotic as well & see results.

Btw, iherb is running another promotion. Their international airmail is free now if u buy over $60 & your items weight no more than 4 pounds. So with the use of the referral code in my earlier msg, u will save plenty as opposed to buying in Sin. Besides, there is no worry of broken bottles or spills. iherb wraps them in bubble wraps & ziplock them well. all my supplements comes in perfect condition all the time.
