hi DJKA, if not driving, take the public bus. Hotel concierge will be able to tell you the schedules, and bustops. Their public transport very reliable, and pro-family.

          Hi,

I am bringing my 2 kids to Gold Coast in June. We will be taking Emirates and touching down in Brisbane. May I know do we drive straight to gold coast, if yes, how long will it take, or should we stay a day in brisbane first?
Hw far is sunshine coast from brisbane? worth a visit?
Also, what are the interesting place to bring the kids besides the 3 Worlds?

          thanks in advance.

Hi, my family & I went to Goldcoast last Nov. We took Emirates too. I believe ur arrival time is past midnight right? For us, we drove directly to Gold coast as we didn't want e hassle of checking in & out of Brisbane hotel in a few hours. The drive was abt an hr+ & since it's past midnight, the traffic was smooth:)

On our last day, we decided last min to drive to Sunshine coast from Brisbane since our rtn flight to Sin was past midnight. The drive was abt the same distance fm Brisbane to Goldcoast. We visited the Sunshine castlte at Bli Bli (din go in, juz took some pics outside), the Ginger factory (paid for the ginger factory tour with the bee show, there's a macadamia factorty juz opposite the ginger factory, Marcoola beach for a short stroll. There are other places of interest like the zoo, pineapple factory, the strawberry farm etc which we didn't hv time to cover.

For Goldcoast, we covered only 2 worlds - Movie & Sea World. The wildlife currumbin sanctury was not worth visiting. Paradise country is so much better & worthwhile. We also went to the Tropical Fruit World which we enjoyed. If your kids love swimming, the Wet n Wild juz next to the movie world will be fun too. We oso visited the Carrara market but din really like the stuffs there.

              Hi pinky88,

              Thanks.
I am taking Emirates. but depart sin at 2345pm and arrive brisbane at 10am. so we will drive straight to GC from the airport.
Have u been to the grow worm tour? worth a visit? can we drive there and book the tour?

Hi, my family went to GC last Nov. Like what pinky88 mentioned, it's better to drive direct to GC, nothing much at Brisbane.

We visited the glow worm cave, the trip in there is pretty short. Ok to go if your kids want to experience it. The worms are so tiny and the cave is so dark that you can't really see how they look like. Having said that, it's quite nice in the cave. You can buy the tickets at the counter there, no need to book. It is a guided tour by a guide there. Do check the timing on the website.

A place worth visiting if you go to Sunshine Coast is the Steve Irwin's Australian Zoo.

If the weather is not too cold in June, perhaps you can consider Wet N Wild if your kids like water play. It's much much bigger than our Wild Wild Wet. We went there thrice during our stay. We bought the VIP tickets, not sure if they are still selling. Check out myfun website on the ticketing. If you read the earlier postings (about Oct to Nov last year period) in this thread, you will find some useful info.

Hi, We went to gold goast last Dec. Overall quite enjoyable. I find is a must that you need to self drive in gold coast cos is quite difficult to move around there.

Dinning wise i find Victoria Ave at Broadbeach think got 30 more restaurants there, Tedder Ave at Surfers Paradise & Marina Mirage near Seaworld, can try omeros Bros and the glass (own preference) not bad. Quite nice place to chill out after Seaworld.

Shopping wise i think Robina town, pacific fair & harbour town outlet. Pumkin patch and cotton on price over there quite reasonable, think their local brand

                    Hi everyone,

                    thanks for your feedbacks.
I had read through all the discussions pages last nite..:)

Do you think my itinerary is workable?

Day 1: Depart Singapore (2345pm flight)

                    Day 2: Arrived (10am)
Check in Sea World Resort and Water Park.
Visit Sea World or should I go shopping at Harbour Town instead?

                    Day 3: Sea World
Day 4: Tropical Fruit World Farm Gold Coast (full day too??)
Day 5: Mount Tamborine and glow worm
                    Day 6: Movie World
Day 7: Paradise Country Farm (how long do u take to tour the whole place?)
Day 8: depart to singapore (flight at 12 noon)

Possible for me to squeeze in O'Reilly?

I doubt there is enough time for you to go Sea World on the first day. By the time you checked in, it will be passed noon and they close at 5 pm. Depending on which day you arrive, maybe you can drive around, shop at surfers, go to the beach and relax.

You should go O'Reilly on the same day as Mount Tamborine, they are near each other.

We didn't go to Paradise Country Farm this time but I remembered you only need half a day or less there.

If you are going to Australian Zoo, that will take you a day.

                        Hi,

I think I will spend the first day at the beach and to shop for grocery for the kids. We will need to buy some cereals and snacks for their consumption for the next few days.

just to check, how far is gold coast from the sunshine coast?
Does anyone spend the full day at tropical fruit farm? what about paradise country farm? is it just half a day too?
might bring the kids to the beach in the evening if both trips requires half day only.
