Do you agree that the issue of high CoE lies with the the car dealers biding the CoE on car buyers behalf? All cost is passed on to buyer ultimately. Without the CoE, they can’t sell any car! So, their interest is to get the CoE at any price!

But however, before the bid of the COE, purchase of the car (price) had already been confirmed and settled between dealers and buyer. Thus i believed dealers will still try to keep the price at considerable range.

:? If buyers are to bid for their own COE, would they have bidded at $80k to buy a car! so desperate!

High COE means lesser cars on the road and thus less congestion & pollution 😂

But the public transport system cannot support it's masses. 😞 the millions they are going to pump in, ... in preparation for more people to come... .

:yikes: This is madness. If one's car is now coming to 10 years, one still need to come up with another S$80k just to buy that piece of paper. It's a ridiculous system. This amount is pertaining to what cc vehicles har? :? If it is a way of discouraging bigger cars, then perhaps there is some kind of rationale behind this. 🤷

                  Purely on demand and supply.

Those who are paying for high COE now is actually topping up the short fall in revenue collection in those bids when we have sub S$10k COE during the over supply period.

The COE is not coming down any time soon IMHO.

If the public transport system is reliable still ok but look at all the problems lately. Singapore is overly populated. Even my DS got worried and asked if Singapore would sink one day.

But the buyers must also willing to pay. On our small island, is car a necessity or luxury? Not too long ago, this S$80k can get you a new 1.6l car with some leftover if you choose a korean brand. Consumers are forgetful…
