How old are your kids? How about Taipei Zoo? It is big and admission is cheap. After the zoo, you can take the maokong gondola which is just beside. Have a cup of Chinese tea and enjoy the scenery.

Other places to visit in Taipei
      1. Yingge (pottery town) + Shanxia old street
      2. Xin Beitou (hot springs) + Danshui
      3. Bitan + Wulai
      4. Yangmingshan
      5. Farm stay @ Taoyuan

Can take bus (need to know the bus schedule to avoid long waiting time or flag down a cab)
1. Modes of transportation between Taipei and LeoFoo Village?
Can take train (cant rem the station off hand but I vaguely rem is one stop before Miaoli) or just hire a driver.
2. Modes of transportation between LeoFoo Village and Flying Cow Ranch
For the places you're going, don't think you need to take HSR, just the normal railway will bring you there. For children, they go by either age or height. My son doesn't need to pay but when we took the train to Hualien, I bought him a ticket too as the journey was 2hrs+. Can't imagine have him sitting on my lap for so long.
3. If we plan to take Taiwan High Speed Rail, the 3 days THSR pass is $110, do I need to purchase the pass for kids ages 3 and 5?
I've not stayed there but read in TA that the hotel and furniture quite aged. But I don't deny that it is in a very good location.
4. Any comments on Caesar Park Hotel @Taipei?
I paid about $200 per nite for 4 of us in a double bed room (2 queen sizes bed), but thats the rate for CNY day 1 to 4. Thus, I do not know whats the current rate. There are lots of shops below and no difficulties looking for food. The mrt is also right below too.

We only visited Bitan as my daughter was running a fever on that day. It's more like a local attraction as we saw many renting the paddle boats. If you like hot springs, I read in TA that Wulai offers cheaper alternative as compare to YMS and Xin Beitou.

Again, we didn't have a chance to visit Yingge and Sanxia old street because of the wet weather. But we'll be going again this Nov.

My gf recommends this place for farmstay in Taoyuan - 綠光森林富野綿羊牧場 (http://www.furano.com.tw/). I've not stayed there before so can't comment.

I will travel to Taipei with my husband and 2 kids (2, 6 years old) for 10 days, in end april to early May. Not yet book any hotel, still planning on the itnerary. Is it better to stay in service apartment than in hotel in taipei? Any experience to share? Any recommendation? Thanks much in advance!
