Child abduction at AMK Hub
-
Young children tends to be distracted n wander arround, the minute u turn yr head to other direction the kid may hv run to other direction, so its important also not to mistake good samaritan who try to help as abductor. Prevention is better, keep an eye constantly on yr child when in public places.

Hi all,
Pls allow me to make some inputs, the victim’s mother is a personal fren of mine.
1. The couple cannot be confirmed to be Chinese nationals. She spoke in mandarin but my fren couldn’t really detect any ‘accent’,the woman also did not turn her face around;
2. She merely left her boy for a max of 10secs to throw trash, no mothers would do that if the country is that unsafe. she never thought that S’pore can become so dangerous…
3. When she turned ard and cldn’t find her boy, she was terrified but managed to spot him being led away by the woman becoz he was wearing a red tee shirt;
4. She was relieved to find him though and shouted at the woman as to why she took her son away. the woman merely replied ‘wrong child’;
5. The feeling of lost and found was so intensed that she did not initially think that it could be an attempt to abduct her boy thus not reporting the incident on the same day. She only did so on the following day, to the police first and then to the mall;
6. The boy is only 39mos, can’t relate the incident properly.
7. It is only later in the night when she questioned her boy again did the boy blurted out ‘jie jie say will bring me home’.
Let us all be vigilant, my daughter is of the same age as this boy. I was scared out of wits, i never thought SG can be this dangerous. I told my husband to be very alert too… I don’t let my elder son go up to our house on his own anymore. =( What has SG become… -
This has the potential to become mass hysteria, esp with ppl who look like they are from China.
Next time I see a lost kid in departmental store, I think I will not hold his/her hand and bring to security counter.
wait the mother/father encounter me half way and give me a punch and accuse me of trying to 'kidnap' the kid... :scared:
However, I do admit that we should keep our kids close. SG is not as safe as it used to be....
FYI I am about the same age as those 2 boys missing and it was a big hoo-haa in the 80s -
Joule:
Note: The woman's reply was, \"Wrong child\". And usually, passersby would wait around the child to see if the child was really lost before approaching. The mother wasn't away for long before the child was taken away.

Indeed, i agree that as parents, we should be vigilant :hi5:
I have many a time, seen parents walking ahead of their kids. Don't believe that is a wise thing to do. -
Canvas:
Same here, Canvas! DD was complaining about why I've 'change' and I told her about the incident. She said I'm scaring her.Too scary. I used to let DS go to the toilet on his own in malls. Now I make sure I wait outside for him.

Headline in yesterday's Xinmin paper:
Happened on Sunday around 1.15pm at basement of AMK Hub.
After feeding her son, a mother went to throw something into a rubbish bin. When she turned back, she saw a lady holding her son's hand and
walking away. Horrified, she stopped the lady and demanded to know what happened. The lady in China-accented Mandarin claimed 'mistaken
identity' and calmly walked away with a male companion. However her son told her that the jie jie offered to take him home.
The mother made a report at the reception and also to the police.
This incident was verified true and even MP Seng Han Thong advised parents to be vigilant and to take care of their kids. He was there with RC members, police and the management to discuss how to enhance
security at the Hub and to be on the lookout.
:yikes: I think the best way for mothers is to shout for help and get the
abductors arrested for questioning. As it is, the culprits are now free to set target on another unsuspecting child.... :nailbite:
So parents, please be on your guard at all times, imagine this attempted
abduction happened on a weekend and lunch time where there is a big crowd and the culprits just blatantly did it :nunchuk: :spank:
What's wrong with the security now :? :rant: Better don't go out weekends. -
Who's going to AMK Hub?
:siam:
Next time (touch wood) must SHOUT and GRAB the suspect... And get help from surrounding SGreans (if u can find)...
No reason for any stranger to lead a child away... Even if the child was lost, common sense will be to stay with the child at the same spot.

During our Gathering of Some Mums Last Weekend,
We happen to talk about Tis Issue of Child Abduction.
One Mummy Related the Experience of her Colleague who went to HK Disney for Holiday with her hb and 2 kids, aged 8 and 10. (a Boy and a Gal)
She’s buying some food over the counter, with both her kids beside her. She Paid the Cashier, turn around, and Both her Kids were Missing! Could not see them around the Area at ALL.
She Immediately Reported to the Disney Security, and her hb ran ALL the Way to the Main Entrance to Search for their Children.
Disney Security Sealed Off ALL Entrance. And They Search the Whole Park, Cannot Locate them for hours.
Finally, they R Found hours later. Abundant, Sleeping on a Bench in a Secluded Area.
Clothes Changed, Boy dressed as Gal, Gal’s Hair Shaved Off.
The Parents Admitted that they Would Not have Recognised their own children in tis getup.
It was a Very Lucky Escape for them, since with their swift action, the Abductors R Forced to Abundant their Attempt.
Unfortunately these ppl R not caught.
So they R cautioning all their frens who R going overseas, esp to HK Disney, to Nvr let their kids off their sight. -
Next time I teach my kid to shout if somebody other than a policeman with ID, offers things like candy or offers to bring somewhere else.
