Seems like these abductors are only interested in easy targets - those kids around toddler to preschooler age. Does it mean older kids like P1 students onwards should be quite safe from such abductions? :idea:

And 14 year Old Gal also Abducted in KL, M'sia at end Jan this Year ....
And Found in Bangkok 6 Wks later, after she Managed to Escape ....

Chenonceau, thanks for your suggestion, this is good. I will try to get this for my younger DD.

Think my kid won't like it. Anything to wear will think twice. Especially new things.

I have one to tie to wrist...but...my kid running away and refuse wearing.

It was only on Thursday afternoon I told my youngest gal (P5) about the AMK Hub issue and asked her to be on alert for any suspicious looking people when coming back from her supplementary classes. I had a biggest shock in my life yesterday afternoon :yikes: , when my youngest gal told me that out of nowhere a young lad approached her (while she was waiting for the lift) and he wanted to show her something and asked her to follow him. Thank God my gal declined and she walked towards an open space. I was very thankful that I related the AMK story to her the day before.


What is happening nowadays ? It is no longer safe even in broad day light??

Maybe I have done too good a job with dd. she is not that kind to smile or greet strangers even neighbors (unless she knows them well).


I am one who is able to strike up a short conversation with strangers or can \"hi hi hi\" to people I don't know.

But with the parents in school, I am more reserved. Don't know why. :?

So when I talked to dd and ds about this, she said i am the easier target. :mad:

Same here. I'm quite friendly and will strike up conversation with strangers when the situation is right. After that, DS3 will disapprovingly :pokeeye: me and :rant: \"You don't know them and why are you chatting with them?\" :oops:

Came back from market this morn and there was this little girl in the same lift.

I was wondering how old she was (shld be less than P5)?
Her parents so brave to let her buy breakfast on her own?
But I decided not to talk to her in case I scared her....

roadside etc. There was 1 case where a woman barged into a primary
school and tried to lead a kid away while he was waiting for school bus

It's very common for older kids like 10yos to buy things on own. It's just that in the current situation, kids are forced by circumstances to be less independent.

I remember when I was in P3 I would take the feeder bus and visit the public library on my own.

Now I dare not even allow my kids to go to the playground on their own when they are slightly older.

hahahaha... when I am in P3, I take public bus to school and my P1 sister tag along with me (I have to look after her), I take public bus to my parent hawker stall to help out during weekend. I take public bus to swimming pool to swim with my friend (without parent around). Think of it, my parent is REALLY brave that time. LOL!!!

Now my girl is P5, I still haven't let her do what I have done before. :? While I am telling hubby that we should let go my girl abit, so that she can be independent... all this news come out. Haiz.............

Exactly lor... I was thinking when we should let go of our kids so they would learn to be more independent and go out on their own... But safety comes to mind.

Now we know what our parents went through when we were young...

There were a lot of elderly neighbors milling around in the neighborhood where I grow up. Everyone knows everyone. My older cousins will bring the younger cousins for fun and games and practise buying things from the mama shop. My children will never get to enjoy what I experienced. My current neighborhood is quiet and filled with foreign workers milling around in the afternoon and evenings.
