just wondering already without edusave, no child bonus, no parental leave, no hdb loan, no hdb grant, pay higher lift upgrade, higher school fees. last year additional property stamp duty for second unit, now another previlege in education being removed. later dunno what else......and yet their sons still have to do NS. ofcoz they will leave.

If such PR leaves because of NS, then better don't have them at all.

If such PR only eyeing on the carrot, then convert to SC bah.

I thank Mr Heng gratefully within your means and power of authority as your first maiden step in Education ministry, for giving us back all fellow Singapore citizens our BACK BONE long overdue!
Now I can stand with my head up that it is a privilege to be a citizen πŸ˜„

see, like after Qiu Biqing topped PSLE whole of SG, Qifa school suddenly became popular and hot overnight.
But they don't realize that the second highest scorer after Qiu Biqing is far far far below her score. As is the rest of the cohort.

The recent change is a very \"safe\" move..

              PRs don't get to vote.

Hence they can implement it so swiftly..

not many parents bother whether got difference between Qiu Biqing and the number 2.
Once parents hear PSLE results out, they usually interested to find out - so this year, which primary school produce top scholar, this time round ?
Parents want to hear news about no. 1, won't care about no. 2.

when go wet market hear Aunties comment \"Eh, did you hear ? news came out that Qifa school produce top scholar whole of SG, you know ?\"

News spread like fire ... wah ! Qifa produce top scholar, you heard ? must be good school lah!
parents like herd mentality, flock to enrol P1 child.

you cant get rid of them totally but you can reduce the no. and it could be a great reduction.

Since 5 yrs ago when I registered for P1, there were a lot of PRs volunteering for Phase 2C.

This change of ruling is too late (better than never) and too little.

Unless Principals select SG volunteers. But still there is also grassroots volunteers and they are mostly PRs

Kudos to Mr Heng for the new P1 registration rule! :rahrah: Though I still feel this shld be implemented long ago. But I seriously wonder how this new policy will impact those applying for the elite schools like ACS, MCS etc...which not many PRs will apply, rite?
