Travel: USA - Florida/Orlando
-
And the best part about Orlando is that the Theme Parks & Factory Outets are all within 8 - 10 minutes from each other so you play & shop till your hearts’ content. There is Downtown Disney (no entrance fee) which you can have a blast in the evenings!! Orlando’s Downtown Disney is much larger than the one at Anaheim with more food & entertainment outlets as well.

Orlando is fun, we went there 2 times. The recent was 2010 Dec. One important thing when visiting those theme parks. Pay for the FAST LANE, this really cut your queuing time.
Experience the ride MANTA in Sea World, Incredible Hulk in Universal Studio. You may visit Harry Potter theme park in Universal Studio. Experience ‘Soaring’ in Epcot Centre.
If budget allows, book slightly more premium hotels. Those budget hotels are full of cap-ba-lang, speaking spanish. Breakfast table also not enough. -

Thanks Laura. I am still considering if we shd go to Legoland.
Check out Legoland if you're a Lego fan, like I am. The type rides are mostly the same as in any other theme park, but I liked the Imaginarium section where they let you \"experiment\" with lego.
How many days did you spend at Disney? Did you go to Universal? We want to do Harry potter.

with FastLane, Universal Studio 2 days. Target those ‘hot’ rides the moment entering into the park. Experience the night at Universal Walk.
Disney 3 days should be sufficient, if kids are big enough, don’t spent too much on Magic Kingdom. Magic Kingdom can be experience in HK
another 3 days for Kennedy, Wet and Wild, shopping, busch garden, etc -

Thanks. We are not planning do Kennedy, wet and wild and Busch garden. We'll be doing Disney quest and the disney waterparks which we enjoyed tremendously the previous time. This time round, we intend to try disney's wintersummerland mini golf too. Is Kennedy worth a visit? Sound really boring from the literature.with FastLane, Universal Studio 2 days. Definitely have scheduled time for shopping. But 3 days for the 4 parks seem too short. I suppose one can be selective. From memory, the parks are huge. I'm surprise you think MK is equivilent to HK disney. I thought MK is much bigger then HK disney. More rodes and attractions too. HK disney in my opinion is less than half of MK. I recall there were only kiddy rides at HK Disney. They did not even have the likes of splash mountain and haunted mansion.
We are vy KS. Must do as much as we can and like. :rotflmao: I also don't think we can ever do the whole Epcot in one day unless one sticks to FutureWorld only. We will want to do World showcase as well, as the characters are mainly there. Also, My kids like to take multiple times of the rides they like. We actually plan to spend at least 7 days at the 4 parks. 2 days each for MK and Epcot and 1.5 days at HS and 1 day at AK. We want to take a relaxing pace. Also, we'll be doing table service meals at least once a day and that takes time. I have 12 sitdown meals planned. We'll mainly be doing character meals and theme meals including eating at conderella's castle, and also event packages like the Fantasmic dining package to get pre reserved seating and the Wishes Dessert party to get reserved seating for the fireworks at MK. Cuts down on queues and waits. We had previously done the candlelight processional package at Epcot but will skip that this time as the kids found it boring. It is more adult.
For activities, I plan to book a BIbbidi Bobbidi session for DD. Also DSs did the Jedi training session and pirate training session with jack sparrow previously as well. But these we may skip as they are older and DD won't be interested. Restaurants at Walt Disney World books up fast so I'll be making my ressies at 180 days out like the Americans! Very KS! :rotflmao:
My Universal package includes reserved seating for breakfast at 3 broomsticks. If we like the FJ ride at IOA's Harry potter, we may decide to do that as often as we want during the few mornings that we have early entry and move on to US and other parts of IOA at other times. The Express pass for staying onsite will be great and it is the reason why we stay onsite. We probably will not spend 4 days at US and IOA and will use the spare time for shopping or whatever we fancy. Could be Legoland or even Kennedy, if I can convince myself that it will not be boring

the cheapest airticket is by booking direct, internet booking, with the american airlines like United or Delta that have many flights out from singapore
you do so by specifying from singapore (SIN) to Orlando (MCO) and you can choose flexible dates of travel and it will show up a table with different fares for different departure date / return date.
next, choose the fare and then it will show up the available flight options to choose, choose those that have sufficient connection time of at least 2 hours if there is a layover for immigration or change of aircraft. generally from SIN to MCO takes about 24 - 30 hours.....don;t let the duration scare you off .... think in terms of what you could see along the way experiencing different airports during the transit ...
if booking is done early, each adult ticket on United is about S$2k+/-, full mileage accrual for miles collectors, and their B777 aircrafts do have entertainment system, so not too boring
other option you can choose are like flying emirates with stop over in Dubai, or fly SQ to Houston then transfer to domestic flight (more costly, at least S$3k - 4k per pax) -

We spent 2 days in Universal studio(1 day in island of adventure(harry porter is inside) and the other one in the Studio -
Magic Kingdom is Orlando definitely is bigger, just target those rides that are not in HK.
In Orlando is called Disney World with 5 parks not Disney Land. It is the biggest and the first to set up.
Try to avoid summer vacation June/July/Aug. End Nov or first 2 weeks of Dec is better lesser crowd. It is a sch holiday yet until Christmas week.
No snow, but chilling. Especially riding in those roller coaster Incredible Hulk, Manta, etc
I am amazed that the ang-moh even 50-60 years dare to ride on those high rides. Aren’t they afraid of heart attack?
Different people may have different schedules. For us, we have to down to Miami and drive up to South Carolina. -

Disney World maybe is the biggest but it's not the first to be setup. The LA one at Anaheim is the very first one to be setup; opened on 18 July 1955. That's probably older than some of us here
