usually in cases like these, i guess is the mother who convert into SC. The father remains PR.

I am referring to several of my friends who are holding top professional. A child is a SC with only one parent convert to SC. The other remain as PR. This is true. They also received baby bonus! Ha! Ha!

was the SC approved recently? my colleague's submission got approved in 2010, juz in time for P1 registration in 2011. but the new 2011 applications i heard of mostly got rejected when only 1 parent applied.

From now on, PRs will take the PV & grassroot route which has priority over Phase 2C SC in P1 registration. I think the number of applicants under Phase 2B will swell.

              within 2B itself - Yes.

SC kids given privilege enter first for all the distances range, before any PR kid.

Only after the very last SC kid had entered > 2km, check any remaining seats ?

              a) if have remaining, then 1st PR kid enter, begin with distance < 1km first.

              b) if no remaining, then all PRs bypassed inspite clocking > 40 (Parent Volunteer, Grassroot activities) hrs. Thus great risk.

              http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/singaporelocalnews/view/1191373/1/.html

              whose turn next ?
phase 2C - 1st Singapore kid in the queue, less than 1 km.

If this is true that is a good news. If this is not, than all SC have to fight with so called SC but PR.

Oh yes, I do have friends like that. One couple is from Myanmar. Another couple from Thailand. But situation exactly the same!
So they are the ones who enjoyed the best of both world. Hubby refuse to convert, wife convert. So hubby PR, wife SC, son also SC.
They got our new flats coz they are entitled to apply just like SC. Was told that now, after 4 yrs, the value doubled.
they got the baby bonus and that tax rebate too. Just like any other sporeans. And yet they get to invest in properties and lands in their own country becoz the hubby is still a citizen of their country.
                    Smart leh...

Ask if we can invest in his country too, since its so much cheaper than spore. he told me \" Hahahaa foreigners are not welcome to invest, foreigners will need to pay hefty tax and pay a high price. Hahahaa....\"

So such people are the one who benefits from both countries coz our govt give them as much subsidies and priority as our SCs. To our govt, so long as u have 1 SC in your family, u are one of us!!

I checked with the MOE. They replied me that as long as the child is a Singapore citizen, they will accept it. It is not necessary to have both parent to be SC. I scatched my head.??? We still have to fight with the PR. Most of my friend's spouse is still a PR and one of them is SC. Even with the \"good\" news, we still have to fight with the PRs. Don't forget that they are outnumbered us even one of their spouse is a SC.

Well, the straits times reported that the PR represented 10% of each year primary one's intake. The number seems surprisingly small when we see Foreign talent everywhere. So I guess they are really referring to the real PRs. Coz most of our PRs, they may retain their PR status but convert their wife and kids. So the 10% PR doesn't represent all the chineses, Indians, burmanese, thais that we see on the road now as they would be citizen by now.

Even if they slow down the granting of PR or citizens process now, there is already alot of them in Singapore. Guess that explains why they have to open up more and more primary schools as our govt is targetting to increase the population to 5.27million by 2015
                      http://www.tradingeconomics.com/singapore/population-imf-data.html

So hopefully we can only get our children into good schools now to secure place for our grand children. :xedfingers: πŸ™

If what they say is true, that there are 10% PR for the primary one intake, then our chances are only increased by 10%? :nailbite:

Not very much but better than nothing. 😒

i wonder if our govt has any future intention to make it compulsory new rule such that :-

only when 2 PR parents convert then only can the child become a pure SC ?
in short, whole family must convert.

ie. get rid of half SC
