Disney World maybe is the biggest but it's not the first to be setup. The LA one at Anaheim is the very first one to be setup; opened on 18 July 1955. That's probably older than some of us here
In Orlando is called Disney World with 5 parks not Disney Land. It is the biggest and the first to set up.

Magic Kingdom in Orlando is HUGE, itβs even bigger than the one in Anaheim though I still find the MK in Anaheim more magical. I remember we had to take either a ferry from the car park or a train across to MK in Orlando. We spent 2 days there, the 1st & last day. Yes, spend a leisure 7 - 8 days at DisneyWorld is a good idea.

the disneyland is in orlando itself ? how u book air ticket? there is no direct flight from spore to say Orlando ? how u do F&E ? Thanks.. gather info now.. haaa.. which is the better month to visit orlando ? will there be snow?
The last time we went in 2007 flying direct on SQ from SG to Newark. We were able to take the exec economy then. We booked a seperate internal flight on Continental fm Newark to Orlando. This is the shortest route, around 20 hrs only. But now SQ only fly biz class on the SG to Newark sector, so we can't afford that now. :(. This year, we book direct from SQ a SG to Orlando flight on their star alliance partnership. We fly SG to Houston via Moscow and transfer to continental from Houston to Orlando. One ticket only.
From first hand experience, this single star alliance ticket is better then to just book SQ and continental separately. In 2007, on our way back, there was a snow storm in NY and our flight from Orlando to Newark was cancelled and we consequently missed our flight back to SG. In fact flights were cancelled or rescheduled for several days! Being already in mid dec, one week befor Christmas, all SQ flights were full until after Christmas. We had to upgrade ourselves to biz class to come back before Christmas. It cost us SGD3500 more per person. Travel insurance compensated only SGD1500 in total
After this experience, I am wary of booking separate tickets during winter season. Consequently, we decided to go the star alliance way. It is definitely more costly then separate booking, but any miss connection as a result of airline delay, it is the airline responsibility to get us on alternative flights back at no additional cost. We can claim compensation from the airline. We are fortunate that we have lots of Krisflyer miles and so has redeemed 5 SQ /star alliance tickets all the way to orlando for end of the yr so cost is managed.
Also, friends flew with a US airline to orlando last year, prob Delta, and said it was terrible with no personal entertainment sector. I know my kids won't be able to stand that as we always fly SQ for longhaul whenever possible, so the redemption was the only way for us.
It is very easy to do US on your own. The Internet is a true gem for the independent traveller

Oh yes! Walt build Disneyland in California and even has an apartment in the theme park where he stayed. He started Magic Kingdom in Orlando but passed away before it was completed.

Oh yes, to get to Magic Kingdom in Orlando, need to take ferry, monorail or bus. Those who drive cannot park there too. The only exception is if one stays at the Contemporary Resort. It is a short 5-10 mins walk to MK. That's why we decided to stay in Contemporary again. Can't beat the convenience. Can take DD back to rest in the afternoon if she gets tired and can't keep up with the boys. Can take monorail to Epcot too. But for Hollywood studios and animal kingdom need to take the bus, but ok, quite convenient.
I also thought that Disneyland in California seems more magical. I had attributed it to the fact that it was the first Disney that I visited. But then maybe it was more...hmmmmm. The thing I like about Walt Disney World is that it doesn't seem so crowded compared to Disneyland because Disney World is so much bigger. There were not so many Asians when we were there 5 yrs ago, compared to california. Not sure if that has changed now. Less Asians is good because the factory outlets shopping is more pleasant and less people snatching up stuff like they are for free :rotflmao: -

Actually having visited DisneyWorld, you would find other Disney Theme Parks pale in terms of size. We went to Disneyland Aneheim many years ago for honeymoon & were so captivated by how high the standard at Disney was then. In 09, we went with our kids to DisneyWorld & it did not disappoint. In fact, if there is only one disney theme park we would choose to go to, this would be the one especially when going with kids. Last Dec, we went back to Disneyland Anaheim but found it rather small maybe cos we already went to the biggest, the one that if anyone would choose to go, just go DisneyWorld. Yes, definitely less asians in DisneyWorld. In fact I you see more Europeans there as East Coast of America is nearer than the West part where Aneheim is. We had great fun watching the Christmas Parades & enjoying all the rides. We drove the distance & really wish we had much more time there.
Actually we booked Northwest then. We transited in Narita & LA then from LA took a domestic flight to Orlando. Yes travelling time was about 23 hours but Northwest provided good service & food. A pity that it is no longer around as it has been bought over by Delta & the fares by Delta is comparable to that of SQ. -
Agree with you, Honey. We had considered going California this year with the kids since we were at WDW in 07. But then decided to go a second time to WDW since DD did not go previously as she was only 1.5 years old then. Also the boys want to visit Harry Potter.
i figured we should go now and capture the disney magic while we can still enjoy it as a family. dS 1 is already 15 and he will outgrow all these soon, if not already outgrown it
I like it there very much. Reasonable priced food, good shopping, good weather and it's just so happy to be there! Disney has this effect on people
Queues are reasonable in WDw compared to the smaller disney parks in Asia. Also Disney parks in Asia do not all speak English. We went Hk Disney 2 years ago, and the DSs just kept doing space mountain and buzz over and over again as there was nothing else they wanted to do, having been to WDW. The shows had mickey speaking in cantonese, sounded so strange to me while the kids don't understand at all! I recall a friend who told me he had to make up the story of a show in Tokyo Disney for his daughter as the show was going on as everything was in Jap! :rotflmao: He says that from then, only Dismey parks in USA will do

hi hi can i ask which is the better month to go Orlando for Disneyland? Thanksss

Late Nov, a few days after Thanksgiving to avoid the crowd or even Dec. Donβt go around Thanksgiving period as waiting time for the rides are long, maybe up to 1 hour, still nothing compared to Tokyo Disney which I heard average waiting time of up to 3 hours even in March. Disney is very magical with all the Christmas light up. There are even Christmas Parades in the evenings.
