I find it strange as her childcare mentioned that the spelling system will be removed soon. And that’s why now, in K2, no chinese or english spelling. And they told me the HYPY wun be ephasize in K2 syllabus too. She has totally no interest in reading and not able to read sentence at K2 standard. Is the childcare too relax?

it really depends on the childcare ur gal is attending. What i can tell you is there's definitely Chinese and English Spelling in NH. for term 1, chinese spelling consists of only HYPY. then for term 2 (april onwards), will start to have mixture of HYPY and chinese characters. the latest chinese spelling list i got is til end Sept, still have HYPY but consists more of chinese characters.

my boy's cc starts to teach HYPY from 2nd half of K1. he also dun like to read but he can read if i test him. coz he did learn a lot of words through spelling.

NH really focus a lot on chinese. so if your gal's cc dun teach HYPY, my advise is you send her for chinese enrichment. at least she won't feel so stress when she starts P1. my boy attends Berries from K1 onwards, bcoz he tells me he hates chinese. 😉 Berries is not very academic but their classes are very fun yet at the same time help to build up his chinese foundation.

i did not enrol my boy for any P1 prep classes, the only enrichment he goes to is Berries. and he has no prob with P1 work as of now.

Hi, my kids childcare also does not have English and Chinese spellings. But they will teach some basic HYPY towards 2nd half of K2. I would suggest you to expose your kid to some HYPY before entering P1. Other than that I don't think any \"additional help\" is needed.

Her P1 prep class is to help her to read. As I reckon that she has to know how to read to assist her in English and Maths Problem sums.

As for chinese, that’s for foundation for HYPY. Didnt expect her to focus so much. She will need time to adjust during 1st half of P1 days.

Nan Hua High Schhol and NHPS is not affiliated. I afraid you are not able to qualify for 2A.

For Nan Hua primary students going to Nan Hua High also not affiliated, no \"discount\" of PSLE score. But Since NH high is SAP, most Nan Hua primary students would have 1(pass),2(merit), or 3(distinction) points to add to PSLE score for their higher Chinese.
                    😄

Can I ask, how does parents know what homework is given to the kids in P1?

Will there be communication book like childcare?
Or teacher will ask them to write down in diary?

My son's teacher asks the students to write the homework in their diary and parents have to initial in the diary on a daily basis to denote we have taken note of the homework.
