Hi 24hr-mum,hi
does any of ur dd or ds have shortsightedness at age 4?
any success stories of treating using eye machine, bates specs, tcm massage eg raffles hosp, or other methods?
is it true that if high power is diagnosed for young aged kids with normal method, we shd let them go hosp to put eye drops to find out real shortsightedness degree?
my youngest dd only k1, 4plus but diagnosed with at least 200+ myopia but was advised to go put eye drops first. she seldom on tv and not a book worm. both me n dh are bespectacled. is that the reason?
SOS!
Has your dd been referred to KKH for more thorough checkup? If so, might be good to go there for a professional review.
My 2 dds were diagnosed with astigmatism. DD2 is quite high. 300+. However, my ds is normal. So we suspect it's genetic as dh has astigmatism. -
i brought her to pedia optic who recommended me to bring her for eye drop checkup by paediatric opthalmologists. got a few listings. which is recommneded?
1) dr pauline cheong, gleneages. cost ard $200
2) dr khoo boo kian, paragon
3) SNEC
4) KKH
5) TTSH
6) Mt Alveria Eagle Eye Ctr -

both kids now using myovision lense from carl zeiss (since Jan) ... there's also another myopia control lense myopilux from essilor. not really sure the effectiveness ... eye check in a few weeks. we're taking them out to park every evening and nightly eye exercise. glasses only used 1/2 day.
if any power increase we'll start them on weekend atropine first ... and am just starting to read this book - 'The Secret of Perfect Vision: How You Can Prevent and Reverse Nearsightedness By David De Angelis' -

Hi all,
Not sure if this is the right place to post.
My boy had this block eye duct problem which will strike once every few weeks.
It’s either one his upper or lower eye lid. Consulted a eye specialist in TTSH and was told there’s nothing we can do except to clean his eye lid daily.
When he grow up, he can go for operation to remove the block duct.
Anyone has this problem?
Appreciate if I can have some advises from experience parents.
Thanks. -
wont eye drop eg antibiotic eye drop help?

Hi 24hr mum,
Initially when we went to PD, they always prescribe us with the anti biotic eye drop.
THen i heard a friend mention that such eye drop will cause the "eye lining" (not sure if i get the term correctly) to go thinner, esp for small children.
So i got scare, and stop applying.
Somemore when i dont apply, its takes a long time to recover.
Yet i dont wish to damage his eyes lining. -
hmm i m not sure what to do too.
maybe u can try get another opinion. the pd that i usu trusts is dr heng, children’s medical centre, at blk 177 toa payoh central. 63540662
u may want to consult her. -
Dear All,
My 4.5 yo son has been experiencing constant headaches for past 1 month + already. Recently tested his vision, and he is a bit myopic from Snellen chart testing. Autorefractive test showed -1.0/-1.0.
Devastated, because none of us have eyesight issue (hb perfect vision, myself -1.25/-1.5 only started using glasses after 18 yrs (then only -1.0).
My questions:
1. He almost always sleeps very late at night (after 11.30pm) & wakes up at 7.20am for K1 pre-school. Is that a factor?
2. Not intending to send him to opthalmologist yet for testing as he is phobia of eyedrops and after all we know his visual acuity (from Snellen) is around 75-100. Is that alright? Thinking maybe end of the year visit to eye Dr then.
Truly appreciate your kind comments, my heart goes out to all children (and parents) of "premature" myopes! -
leafiewonder:
Where did you test his eyes? Optical shop??? Polyclinic?? Why need to wait until the year end. I will suggest you go and see pediatric opthamologist. When I bring my daughter to SNEC, I saw kids as young as 3 years old there. So dont worry about eye drops. Of course, smaller kids were shouting and crying while putting the eye drops, but only for a short while. I think the nurses can manage that.Dear All,

PS: My DD has myopia as well (detected only recently). We regreted for not detecting early. Now it is -2.5.
