Very sad. I hope pedestrian learnt that whether traffic light is in your favour or not, always be alert. I have seen so frequently pedestrian just take their own sweet time crossing the road, smsing on the phone, etc. They think that the drivers will have to give way/slow down for them. They dint realise that all it takes is one careless/reckless driver, or may be technical fault of the brake, and they could be gone. No meaning arguing whose fault it is after that, for the victim.

Very hard for pedestrian to avoid the accident in a situation like this at the traffic light junction when the vehicle is turning rite.
If a pedestrian would to stop half way when there r vehicles turning rite than he/ she would not be able to make in time to cross the road within the green man duration as most driver would just continue to turn as long as you r not in their path.

Hence the only way to be safer is to only cross the road when there is a group of pedestrians harder for driver to miss.

        This is really sad…

I always remind my kids and helper to make sure the cars are "completely stationary" before crossing the traffic lights/zebra crossing… because we as pedestrians really cannot trust the drivers.

I almost had an accident few yrs back when I (heavily pregnant w my 2nd kid) was crossing traffic lights with my kid (green man was not even blinking). The cars at 1st and 2nd lane were alrdy stationary when we started to cross and suddenly this taxi at the 3rd lane just SPED past us when we were in the middle of the traffic lights crossing!!..
If my kid & I were just 1-2 steps ahead, i guess i wont be here today writing on KSP forum.
Most regretful of all, I was in such a state of shock that I didnt take note of the taxi no. and there isnt any camera ard then.

I actually hate that vehicles are allowed to cross at the same time the traffic light is green for right turning vehicles. Kids always thought that once the traffic turns green, they are safe to cross already.

I remember years back when my boys were still small, we were crossing a zebra crossing, one of them in front of me. A red car just sped right through in front of us. If I had not pull back my son in time, he would already have been hit. 🙏
Some zebra crossing not obvious ... Like the one near my hse, the zebra crossing stretch 4 lanes for both ways traffic n no hump before the zebra crossing, So those driver not familiar with the area might miss it. Wat I can't stand is bus driver tat drive pass tat zebra crossing everyday can also sped pass when there r pedestrian crossing

Curious why taxi driver was filming from his taxi? How footage was obtained?

It is an accident camera that is usually hung under the mirror. Auto recording. Usually only replayed in an accident to see if people cut your lane or didnt signal etc etc…

Actually, pedestrians have to be really careful. After i started driving, then i do realise that even as a slow driver, there are times where cars / people are in your blind spot. Most scary is where impatient drivers want to cut u from behind when u are actually slowing down because u saw a pedestrian crossing in front of u.

Looking at the footage, there is a possibility that the bus driver did see her crossing the road but judged that he could be able to turn in front of her. When taking the turn, he took his eyes off her to check the clearance on his left and knocked her down.

I have seen many drivers doing that, making the turn in front of pedestrians crossing the road. Traffic police should take this opportunity to highlight that such maneuver is against the law. Vehicles should only proceed with the turn after the pedestrians have walked passed their turning lane.
