My DD1 just went to the boarding school experience for Sec 2 on 1 April. She called home and sounded extremely happy. Glad they had a chance to bond with their friends and be independent. This thursday evening she’ll be back for the long weekend.

Does anyone know what the 'interim' score in the progress report is computed? Is that the equivalent of GPA?

Mdm Heng gave a very good talk to the parents. Main message is to tell parents if they have any issues, to approach the school and work things out.

And to excercise calm when calling the school as there have been parents who have been \"aggressive\" when calling the school and talking to admin staff.

Did you heard her give an analogy that the situation her staff and her faces was likened that of parents are like garbage truck carrying loads of rubbish to school and unload onto their offices? I admire her oratorical skills as we burst out laughing. My after thought was she was just sending a message back to the rude parents back in a very light hearted way. She was very calm and very funny. Kudos to her high EQ!

And I agree with her, some parents think they are always right and demand this and that from the school, something as triivial as getting the CCA of choice for their daughters!

And that we need to let the girls learn how to manage these things on their own instead of the parents getting involve on their behalf.

Mdm Heng is a very good principal and she has a very good understanding of the girls and what is needed for them to do well.

And my personal opinion is, as parents, we need to give her and the school all the support, they are the experts in education, not us parents, so we should not interfere in how the school is run.

There is another session tomorrow morning, you should attend if you can. It will be at the boarding school.

Hello, my DD in Sec 2/13 this yr. Majority of the class is GEPers but with a handful mainstream high PSLE scorers. Surprisingly, last yr the top 3 in her class are all non GEPers ! Anyway, her class is friendly and fun-loving - no borders bet GEPers and non GEPers - all mixed comfortably together which is very good. :hugs:

Before NYGS started IP, does NYGS has 2 bonus points to enter HCJC like Chinese High students? This is beside the 2 bonus points given to Special Assistance Plan school students.

Thanks, underthesea. I will try to find out more info during the open house. NYGH is dd's dream school. She hopes to DSA into the school. But she's a mainstreamer and everyone is telling her how almost \"impossible\" it is to DSA via academic domain for mainstreamer.
