My DD is 8 years+, P3. Yes, She usually sleeps late around 1130 or 1145 pm and watches too much TV. And yes, not much outdoor activity. I am really guilty for all these things. :stupid: :stupid: :stupid:

Wow, for a P3, that's really late. Is she in the afternoon session? If she can wake up at 9am + then it's not that bad. She needs at least 9 - 10 hours sleep.

But if there's genetics involved, you can't really prevent this... dun bang your head too much

My DH and me dont wear spectacles...

She is in the morning session. She will wake up at 6.45 or 6.50 am and everything in a rush. She will be ready in fifteen min. She drinks only milk in the morning. her breakfast is during her recess time. But now I force her to sleep by 10 pm. Must nag nag nag scold scold scold Then she will come to bed by 10 pm. sigh.

hmm, for my k1 (she’s still 4+ cos birthday not over), she failed the kindy checkup.

          so
          1) i sent her to an optometrist - my elder gal went to this plc, so far by his prescription my gal managed to control her myopia, not sure why.
the optomet says my dd2 is 275

          2) went pediaoptix, the scanner says her eyes healthy as in no growth but the scanner says 400+ but usu scanner is higher reading, so this 2nd optometrist did the manual checks n says 300 + but recommend me to hosp do dilation eye drop

          3) went eye surgeon who did the drop and say 350 and 250 (for diff eye)
          recommended atropine

          4) went back to shop #1 to do specs, 2nd time chk tested wf 250, can see leh. so i bargain for 200 power in the specs.

sigh. anyone tried atropine? will it thin the retina ?

            Hi

My DD1 4yrs+, K1 have her eye assessment done at KKH. Power is 200 for each eye. Was told have to let her wear glasses to school and watching tv. Any reading or homework at home can do without the glasses.

Any parent have any thought on when or what activity to let the child put on glassess?

I have read through the posts here and am overwhelmed with so much info. But must say this is a very useful channel for parents like us whom are trying our best to control our child’s myopia.

my optometrist , Just Eyes, at international plaza is quite gd.

he advised just wear when tv or reading, not all the time or else cant take off glasses at all. my gal managed to stabilised her power after lettg him make the lenses whc are customised

                    Hi 24hr mum,

You mentioned that you ask the optometrist to lower the power of the glasses prescription…but I thought for kids under 7, the normal optical shop can only make glasses based on the doc’s prescription?

I am also in a dilemma whether to make the glasses based on the prescribed power or lower power, as worried that if straight away wear a pair with such high power, the child will be uncomfortable and make it more difficult to get used…also read from some websites and also in this forum that normal prescribed power is based on distant vision, and could actually be harmful for reading and other near activities…

Was your elder girl wearing glasses since kindy days as well and also started with glasses with lower power?

                    Tks.

                      Hi HAPPYH,

                      need your kind advice.
my DD1 has recently complaining about her eye-sight being blurr sometimes. During her annual health check-up she was advised to go and visit eye doctor/optrician.

just wanted to know how to get appointment at SNEC? Is it convenient to go to the place via MRT since I don’t drive?

I am planning to book appointment once you advise me and go there may be next week or so (or whenever get the appointment).

i hv two gals n a boy. my p4 gal started wearg glasses at mid p1 (she was jus 6 actually). for my optometrist he say the lenses outside r mass prodn but for him he wld do some markg on the fake lenses of the chosen frame when the person tries the frame, i think to mark locatn of focal pt or wat i m not sure but the lenses r meant to suit the individual eye .so far my gal can maintain the power. he wil not prescribe full power either. i personally think shdnt gv full power n shdnt wear specs all the time if can see wfout straing or the eye become lazy plus our body can heal on its own to some extet jus like whn we sick stimes we get well wfout seeing doc. but in sch hv to wear cos teacher wont let u sit in front
