As a person with serious myopia (900+), I do recommend your kids to start wearing the specs at all times (at least 80% of the time, esp in school and when watching TV). I started in P2 but didn't want to wear and caused my myopia to worsen as I had to squint to see properly from far. It only stabilized when I was 17yo and started wearing contacts. I am now waiting for my long-sightedness (Lau hua) to set in... hahaha it's only a matter of time.
I did all the bad things - slept late (still do), read lying down, watched a lot of TV (sometimes in the dark) - so please tell your kids to listen when being nagged at.
However I wish to add, it didn't cause too much inconvenience to my lifestyle and it isn't a matter of life or death, so I want to tell the parents here to relax a little. We can't reverse this nor prevent this.
I know how it feels when our kids start really young but if you go to this website called http://www.littlefoureyes.com, you will realise that there are younger kids out there with more serious eye ailments. -
my dh is 900-1000 n mysf 450-500. when no 1 diagnosed wf 75 deg n later 100 in 3 mths i din let her wear cos i try eye mach n massage din wk n her power rose by 50 ev 3 mths. then i started let her wear n it din incr so fast can tahan for a yr or so. i m gg tryg flaxseed oil ( frm my suppl co newlife), internet say can impr vision n its gd for eczema n brain memory too cos it has omega 3)

There are also downsides to flaxseed oil. Pls read carefully - the pros and the cons.

Just coming back from SNEC. DD1 donโt need to wear spectacles. Doctor said eyesight quite ok with very minor degree of power. So let it be as such. Just need to go for review 6 months later fo follow up

Yes agree with you. My daughter also has the habit of reading while lying down, or bend too much to keep the book near etc.. She basically loves to read books. She needs to read a book before she can fall asleep :?good to hear that your dd do not need glasses now.

Need to monitor and check her reading posture.. Keep the book at least 30cm away..
Also will try to improve on the outdoor activities.. 6 months to go.. Hope DD can learn good eye care habits..
:xedfingers:
All the best to your child too.. :rahrah: -

Good to hear that your DD does not need to wear spectacles.
But pay extra attention to monitor her reading habits, TV watching time etc...
Ask her to have more outdoor activities.
