I was advised to keep kids at home 2moro. But is it really necessary ?

Where I stay has rock solid foundation. Son’s school is nearby, no beach around either. Tsunami hits the shore right ?

Often, when real disasters happen, it's already too late by the time alarm reaches the people. This time it is not so serious and we have buildings swaying already. Cannot imagine what will happen when a serious one happens.

if hit in-land, where can we run to ?


Our highest hill is Bukit Timah hill … not sure if is high enough to overcome big strong, high tsunami waves. maybe SG should start conduct civil defence, help everyone practise running to this hill seek refuge for days ? The higher ground we run to, the safer we are.

or time for SG to explore the idea of building a big Noel ark, big enough to let people hide inside, seek refuge for a period of time from strong tsunami waves hitting entire island, if really hit in-land one day?

High time to plan and execute trial run emergency crisis solution, nation wide.
only way of escape is to remain on high ground, remain in helicopters / hot air balloon in the air, or hide inside a big stable ship that’ll not be tossed around by the high forceful tusnami waves. Depends on what ship material is made of.

it didn’t happen to SG yet doesn’t mean … it will never happen to SG one day.

The earthquake and aftershook that hit Indonesia yesterday is considered "Great". It was reported to be 8.3-8.6 on the Richter Scale.


6.0-6.9 - Strong - Can be destructive in areas up to 160km
7.0-7.9 - Major - Can cause serious damage over large areas
8.0-8.9 - Great - serious to devasting damage from several hundreds across
9.0-9.9 - Great - serious to devasting damage from several thousand kms across
> 10.0 - Massive - Never recorded.

our poor Bt Timah hill or Mt Faber will be trampled flat if the entire population cheong up there :evil: anywhere, don't think there is enough time for us to travel all the way there if ever tsunami strikes. Best way is to run up to the highest floor in our block and pray for safety :evil:

If there is underwater quake and tsunami happens, it will hit the shores. Areas like Beach Rd, Marina area have been known to feel tremor. It's scary just thinking of Sentosa...those houses there facing the open sea.
