The possibility of a tsunami reaching Singapore is very very small.


It would require a very massive earthquake probably way above 9 or even 10 on the ritcher scale, to hit at the right place and at the right angle, to generate a super big and powerful tsunami, that is strong enough to move over Sumantra and possibly southern Johor, or to move down Straits of Malaca after being deflected and bounced off a few times, then the waves can reach us. By then, if it is still strong enough to cause damages to Singapore, I can’t image the damages it would have caused to Sumantra.

None. Singapore is well protected by indo and m'sia.. all covered..

if any were to sneak thru the east side, the power of the waves will be greatly reduced.

Singapore is indeed blessed. We do not have suffer effects of tornado, volcano, earth quake and other natural calamities. Raffles has foresight.
But the feeling of staying in a house facing the sea is still scary to me.

these houses can easily cost $20M and above so surely will be covered by insurance or won't it? (tsunami considered as natural calamity -->act of God right?)

We have bomb shelters within our house but no earthquake shelter, with so many high rise building surrounding us, we will be crushed to death by the collapsing buildings...
