      friendship:
In the end where are the top cream that being skimmed off in primary 4 har? How abt those being awarded with EESIS or something like that? They can't even compete with the foreign talent at the age of 15 years old onwards. Failure in our education system. Tuition centres laughing their ways to the bank.

The FTs especially PRCs have an unfair advantage. Most of them have completed at least our equivalent of Sec 4 or even JC 1 before they join our school system. Hence, you always see them excelling in math & the sciences. There is no surprise as they have already covered the syllabus back in PRC.

Due to their proficiency in English, they have to start from Sec 3 in Singapore. If they are to study at the same level and at the same age as our locals, I am sure our top students are at least on par, if not better than the FTs.

look at http://sms.math.nus.edu.sg/Competitions/SMO2011.aspx for example. the top 6 positions in open go to singaporeans. look at senior. the top 6, except for possibly no 3, are singaporeans.

just curious, how do u figure that out? from the names (local / foreign sounding) or you know the students? 😃

2 sons. elder one in NUSHS, younger one in RI.

              Hi Year 1 Parents,

I was just looking through my Bank Account transactions for April, and I noticed an amount of $580 has been deducted for "School Fees"… May I ask if anyone knows how this figure was derived? Is this the fees from Jan to April, plus some misc fees (Parent Assoc fees etc)? Thanks!

ę²”ęœ‰ć€‚I remember reading somewhere that they will deduct Parents Assoc fees (maybe $100) in April. And after EESIS of $200 per month, RI school fees is $135 per month? I will try to dig out those forms and check, but don't know where I have placed (or mis-placed) them!

                        Hi Paddy Field,

I think I have figured it out (thanks to VSK2010)..

                        School Fees (Jan to April) is $135 X 4 = $540.
Parent Association Membership Fees is $40.
                        So, Total Amount deducted is $540 + $40 = $580.

                        Bingo!!!
