For maids who are willing to renew contracts with us, we really save a LOT of money! It is unbelievable 5 years ago when I got a maid, I paid about SGD600+ agency fees, insurance etc. Now am paying SGD1000++ as my mother’s maid is not going to renew. I cannot imagine next time after 1 May the amount employer got to pay, between SGD1200 to almost SGD2K. Just to hire a maid for 2 years! Yikes!

I am going to stop hiring any more Indo maids if fees is increasing too much. There are always other options for employer to choose. Question is after paying so much, are we getting good quality? I doubt so as the high rejection rate is always very high especially from Indo and Myanmar. I have tried maids from Myanmar, Indo and Philippine and we still preferred Philippine as I have less issue with the communication and more variety on the dishes that pino can cook. My current Indo has too many restriction, cannot cook western and pork dishes. Usually, I have to cook the pork dishes overnight so that we have more choices.

My mum's maid also with her for abt 10 years already. My maid now 4.5 years. They are both Filipinas. From my experience, Filipinas tend to work longer, and have more discretion, ie don't anyhow and anyone also can be boyfriend ie smarter and more discerning la. Some people think off day is a negative for Filipinas. But i kan kai already. Off off la. I have given up on Indon and Myanmar. I have a long sob story about Myanmar. My Indon no off also can get into affair, run out every night to meet condo security supervisor.

I do like Indo maids previously but after trying all 3 nations i.e. mynmar, Indo, filipinas I rather stick to filipinas, all hv their own set of problems but end of the day when it comes to filipinas, need to compromise. Think maturity is important. Im happy as long as she knows her limits and most important honesty is what I want frm them. Im not for Indons anymore cos they are easily influenced… after reading so much about them falling off buildings, running away, murder etc, i think I rather stick to filipinas. I feel more relax giving off days to a filipina then to mynmars that are too young and Indons, ahhh… dnt know where they will land up on off days and who will con them. The Indons can raise their price for all I care but really not worth it today.

Now I m wondering the increase of agency fees of $1600 will affect Philip maid as well? The agent may take this opportunity to raise the agency fees regardless of nationality.
