Hi,
Can somebody please help me with this grammar question.
I would have told you if I __________.
(1) knew (2) knows (3) had known (3) have known.
Is the answer 3 or 4 and why.
Thanks in advance.
KRR
Good Morning.
I would pick (3).
Please refer to this link.

KRR
The answer should be option (3) as this is the third type of conditional sentence to express regret. The 'clue' is the phrase 'would have known', which is used together with the past perfect tense. -

jesschan:
Answer should be 2. The clue is the word 'would', which in past tense tells you that this is a Conditional Sentence 2 (and the sentence starts with the word 'if' in front). This is a person wishing for a situation which will not come true (possibly because the 'she' referred to in the question had already passed away).Hi, can someone please advise what is the answer to the grammar question stated below? Thanks!
If she _____ alive today, she would be proud of you.

(3) was
