lousymum:
Hi,

Pls help

The floods devastated the villages and towns.
______________created_______________.

Thanks.
Do you mind letting us know what the teacher's answer is. I find the word \"created\" in this context a little awkward.

Thank you.
Hi,

Can somebody please help me with this grammar question.
I would have told you if I __________.

(1) knew (2) knows (3) had known (3) have known.

Is the answer 3 or 4 and why.

Thanks in advance.

KRR

Hi

Good Morning.

I would pick (3).

Please refer to this link.

http://www.englishclub.com/grammar/verbs-conditional_4.htm

Best wishes

Thank u very much Mr Tianzhu. I thought as much, however the teacher has given option 4 as the answer. I wonder why!

KRR
The answer should be option (3) as this is the third type of conditional sentence to express regret. The 'clue' is the phrase 'would have known', which is used together with the past perfect tense.

Thanks, tianzhu. I taught my boy that too but his teacher said that the answer is (1) because of the word \"today\". So now, I am not sure....

(3) was
Answer should be 2. The clue is the word 'would', which in past tense tells you that this is a Conditional Sentence 2 (and the sentence starts with the word 'if' in front). This is a person wishing for a situation which will not come true (possibly because the 'she' referred to in the question had already passed away).
