All about Transferring to Other Primary Schools

different school, different requirements.
best to call up that particular school youβre interested in. Ask to speak to the Officer in charge of Transfer Admission, not just any admin staff. Both email and telephone are found on the schoolβs website, under "Contact us". -
Thanks a lot phtthp

those seeking transfer to either popular affliated schools by P5 latest or for GEP programme, here are some psle.
most schools won't entertain incoming Transfer requests at P6 - because the effective time duration needed for a child to prepare psle is 1.5 years (beginning P5 to mid P6, after that is prelim)
ideally transfer before end P4 -
so that when there's a re-org of classes at end P4 into P5, the child still has the chance to join one of the few best classes.
if child transfer in at P5 -
child had already missed the boat, end up cannot join the best few classes.

Does anyone has any idea how to arrange for transfering to a new school which will only be operating in 2013?
I appreciate any information -
as it is a new school start operation only next year 2013, best to write in to MOE inquire. email is [email protected] You indicate which school you interested in. They'll address your concern.

anybody has experience transferring your dd at p5? care to share?
in a delima. dd was offered a place at girls school along bukit timah with affiliate secondary. but she will only get to join the mixed ability class.
in current school, she is in the best class.
is it better for her to stay put? -

Hi phtthp,
I've written, but I did not get the information I needed, I even write to the Mayor in charge of that area, no response too... -

Do you have faith in your dd's current school to prepare her well for PSLE? How has the performance of the top class in the school been? Many schools place a lot of attention and resources on their best class. There's a possibility that your dd might do better for PSLE if she stays on in the best class in her current school vs a mixed ability class in her new school. Bear in mind she also has to adjust to a new environment, new friends, new CCA etc.
If your dd plans to go to the affiliated secondary school, is the affiliated secondary school her dream school? If it is, then go ahead and transfer. If not, then she might as well stay in her current school and aim for a high PSLE score and get into her dream school that way. -
Hi all,
Need some help and advise here ....
I had been on wait list since Dec last yr for sch A P1 vacancy but till now no news
Had called up and they did not have any vacancy now and asked me to send in SA & CA results after September ...
I did not even register my child in sch A last yr as the chances were so slim that I dun dare to take the risk at all. Was able to get into sch B successfully without balloting within 1km. Will my chances be slim for sch A to take my child in due to both sch was within 1km?
Distance away from my home :
Sch A - 250m
Sch B - 950m (His current sch)
Reason of transfer:
#Minimize the traveling and also saving on transportation cost.
#Another reason was my child went to after sch care and in his P1 level all are from Sch A and he's the only one from Sch B & often felt left out
#He was not able to join the Enrichment program organize by sch due to no transportation arrangement and it will be very costly to arrange just to fetch him. If he can study in sch A, he will be able to join by walking to the sch himself.
Will my reason be sufficient for the trsf reason?? -
Sancai:
When citing reasons to transfer, look at the curriculum sch A has that sch b does not. I have the suspicion that maybe sch A will indeed offer someone else schooling further away if your kid's results r on par with another. Cos after all, sch B is still within 1km. Unless your kid results really good or good in cca. Or if sch A practice queuing system which I doubt so cos they ask for your kid results.Hi all,
