Mummies,
Would like to ask if anyone feels socially inept after staying at home for a while? Last time, I enjoyed doing things alone because I seldom had \"me-time\" but now I feel as if I am in my own little world of errands and kids and whatsnot that social life is non existent anymore. Even conversations with acquaintances seem awkward. AIYO!
I am asking because the SAHMs I met recently seem to be quite withdrawn and I am starting to understand why. :gloomy: -
Talking about Tui Na and massages ah...2 mths ago I was all inspired to lose weight and be healthier so I signed up for an acupuncture/tui na package at the nearby mall. 12 sessions but I went for 3 only. I think I was quite traumatized by the needles  The tui na sessions also gave me bruises. I felt I was beaten up by someone. Haha. Now left 9 sessions but I am always finding excuses not to go. Instead of losing weight, I gained 2 kgs.
But so wasted lah, the money of the package is enough for me to buy a very nice handbag. -

Me too in same situation :imdrowning:Mummies,

Not withdrawn. More like we have become more relax, more easy going, not so 斤斤计较. Thus we are less likely to argue or fight or quarrel with others. So sometimes when we hear something we don't agree with, we don't see the need to keep talking abt it.
But agree that conversational skills gone south. -

No all la, those SAHMs outside school gate super chatty and exchange all sort of insider's info le. I used to enjoy standing within earshot just to earshove for entertainment since I'm stuck waiting anyway :evil:now I feel as if I am in my own little world of errands and kids and whatsnot that social life is non existent anymore. However, I'm defintiely the withdrawn kind of SAHM, so I shy away from talking to other super chatty SAHMs unless I'm being spoken to, then I will reply out of politeness
Kind of scary if suck into their daily info exchange session. I got absolutely no insider's info to contribute since I bochap school related gossips & politics. So what if this teacher doesn't get along with that teacher? Don't know Don't care
But that was last time. After swtiching to a further away school, I drive so I can hide inside my car, no need to talk to anyone
That's the reason why I hardly made any new friends the last 10 years :yikes: Too contended being my own best friend -

Hey, I'm just like you. Don't like to be sucked into their daily small talk. Don't give a damn if they think I'm stuck up. Unless I meet my former classmates...and we will chat a little about kids. Otherwise, I'm very contended on my own. -
So glad I am not alone. I was still wondering if others find me boring or worse, anti-social since I always run off to do my own stuff. But I always smile lah. Even if some don't smile back.

I talked to one mum last year...realized we were on different wavelength. So, that was it. Didn't bother to talk to the rest of her kakis.
Putting my daughter in my former school is a joy, even though it is 15 min drive away...but she finds that it is not wise. Everyone is entitled own ideas...so be it. -
I made a few friends at my boys’ schools coz our kids are friends, so we invite each other for playdates. But I don’t really talk to the other mums who wait for their kids.
I do meet up regularly with friends and ex-colleagues. Many of them are working, and many of them don’t have kids, so my conversations aren’t so child-centric. So it is quite refreshing.
It would be nice to have more SAHM friends though, coz it’s nice to have people facing the same stresses as you.
