I m not debating on d good intention of d law.
D age difference in d law is contentious.
Say a client has sex with a minor 18<age>16 n he is caught,
They turn ard n said they r bf/gf n no money exchange hands,
There is no offence – u see d loophole in d law?
d law needs to be tweaked.

d gahmen did dat with d law wrt to illegal moneylending,
they closed d loophole on delinquents being used to front loanshark operations.
I agree with W2G that there is a certain illogic to it. Just does not sit intuitively.

Much needs to be done to educate our daughters. Keeping the virginity for the one she marries is not just respecting herself. It speaks a lot about her. A man who truly loves her will respect her.

          That's true. couldn't agree more.. 😉

We all know that not everyone gets educated the same... different PARENTS... different schools.... different streams... different quality of education.

If we are talking about the lax morals of a 30 year old, I would have nothing to say. I have little good to say of the married woman with one child who slept with the 2 Home Team officers to sign a small teensy weensy deal of almost no money at all.

But this one is a child. To become a prostitute at 17, her sexual initiation must have started way before. WHO was it who seduced her at 14? 15? 16? Where were her parents when she was 13 or 14 and hanging out in malls till the wee hours of the night?

I went onto part-time work many years ago because of 2 things. I toured an SPF lock-up facility and saw a EIGHT year old little boy. 2 days later, The Husband and I stole some time to catch a midnight movie. On the way home, I saw a little girl with heavy make-up and a body that was beginning to develop in interesting ways loitering in the hallway to the carpark. I thought she must have been about 14.

These 2 experiences shook me. My daughter was scoring poorly at school. Teachers complained about her. She complained about Teachers. She was in P4. I quit my job and stayed home for a year. In one year, DD moved from bottom to top. She later went to a top school, and graduated from A levels with 8 distinctions. During one of her CIP involvement in Sec 3, someone (a man in his 20s) told her a joke she didn't understand. She came home to ask me. I have vague memories of the joke... something about a father peeing in a mothers mouth.

          I HIT THE ROOF BIGTIME.

My DD is not a prostitute because I was there to watch over her sexual imprinting... to ensure that she understands the sexual eperience from MY viewpoint. I was the one who personally gave her the sex talk and I also do it for my son.

Do you think this 17 year old had a Mother like me?

              I agree too, guys. (Way2GO & 3boys)

The law can protect the innocent n vulnerable... the real victims.
The law must be able to define punishment for those who abuse that protection.

              Women or not.

This is why most men I know say that the women's charter is biased.

Whip perpetrators to shape and never once should these acts or services be condoned or make light of them by waving these acts or services as something more common or a normal occurrence... more common than we think. Just because it's common it sure hell doesn't spell normal to me or healthy for that matter. Religion n morals aside of course.

These recent cases are proof enuf that much has to be tweaked. Definitely top priority agenda to look into. I already know of so many schoolmates who have been doing this sideline since sec sch days. While some try to claim its to help their needy family n sorts... after they see the :moneyflies: rolling in, it WILL eventually boil down to the luxury lifestyle that they are accustomed to.

No. Their parents don't know. In actual fact they weren't that needy to begin with.. we all knew that. But their sexual orientation came early. They had boyfriends in Sec 1 and have explored the ways of the birds and the bees ahead of the rest of us who still played zero point then.

Neither do their current spouses and children know.

But the rest of us do.

But since it's all in the history books and they're leading ok lives, the rest of us overlook n try not to remember who they reali were and what they did during those summers. I'm sure being moms themselves now, they won't want their kids to walk down that same path.

Sorry Chenonceau, I believe your perception is one dimensional. There are plenty of girls with the ‘right’ upbringing (not mall rats) who will take a liberal attitude towards sex, possibly even abetted by their parents. In your view, it is wrong, reprehensible, and therefore pitiable and they should be treated with great sympathy. My view is, it is what it is, society has developed along these lines and sexual morality has loosened to extent that these things no longer have the stigma of the past. These folk will live this lifestyle and ask for neither excuses or sympathy. Not all of them are the product of a disadvantaged home. So please don’t make the assumption that this girl is somehow ‘broken’, I’m not so sure she thinks she is. And who is to say, even IF she had a mother like you, in today’s society, she could not have headed down the same path? I know of children from strict upbringing who have turned out different from expected. So we do our best and pray, but ultimately the kids make up their own minds.

But until we know more, we should not mete out the punishment AS IF this one was from a privileged home... with proper upbringing. We don't know, do we?

I am not assuming that she is from a disadvantaged home. I just don't think people should assume that she was not and just completely destroy a young person's life for mistakes she was enticed into when she was 16. Frankly, when your body starts to develop, the men are gonna come for you and educate you... and tempt you to sin.

You mean your kids don't sin? They don't tell lies? They don't forget to do homework? They don't take a bite of that apple pie you saved for their sibling? They don't hanker after that latest gizmo? Kids can be naughty. As parents, we all know that. Kids have the propensity to sin.

Some kids make big sins. But they're still kids.

Everyone has done things they're ashamed. You haven't?

This isn't a question of protecting WOMEN. If this was a boy providing gay services to 80 men, the logic remains. HE would still be a CHILD.

I think the concept that she MAY be from a broken background, and how that may play into her behaviour, is well understood. But I think you have taken an overly sympathetic tone towards this girl, and perhaps are over stating the role of 'background' in shaping her behaviours. My wife and I apply 110% effort to our kids, and I'm still not sure how they will turn out. Its not as if this girl had no choices.

On the other point, I'm not so sure she has any qualms about destroying the lives of 50+ men and possibly their families.

Regarding that trophy wife, she is a NEW one..26 years old. Dated for 6 years but unfortunately this marriage is no fairy tale. A pity bcos the husband is 3rd generation of Shaw family. Looks like this man has brought down the name of his famous family ? She is very young too but why was the husband in heat when he saw a 18 year old ?
Think a lot of men see it this way - wife is for the respectable events - can show family, can bring out, can have some sort of staple sex at home. like rice.

but many think there's nothing wrong with having snacks outside. When there's a new snack, go buy and try. right? the fresher, the newer, the more exotic (korean babes are apparently running a thriving trade) the better. that's the sad state of affairs our society is in these days.

and if they have no religious compass, what is there really to stop them? values are very subjective these days.

discussing this with the hubs, it's a gd wake-up call to show the necessity of having some objective compass in life.

Of course they do, which is my point.

Regardless of what their backgrounds may be, there still needs to be accountability. They cannot forever lay the blame (if at all) at the feet of their parents and/or poor home environment.

                        Forgive? Yes

                        Judge and correct? Yes, also....
