Ya.. thanks. Anyone attempt Roysth SA1 for Science. Spotted a few wrong answers, this is one of them.. like that how to teach as i am not too good in Science too :siao: ?

Hi CNS,
We were appalled that Rosyth's SA1 Science paper have so many mistakes in their MCQ answer sheet. Would you mind if I tally answers with you?
Q No./Ans Key/Child's Ans
Q2/3/1
Q8/3/2
Q11/4/1
Q13/3/4
Q17/4/2
Q22/4/1
Q25/4/3 (glowing stick question)

My child got the Q23 of the same paper incorrect. Do you mind explaining how you/your child get your/her answer, as I am not good at the topic of matter.

http://i40.tinypic.com/2z3qte0.jpg\">

Thank you.

Sure. We tie for Q1, Q8, Q 11 and Q13 but cannot help you on matter cos her school is not doing matter for SA1. How about your Q12 ? Why is the answer 2. Thot this is the seed coat ? I did the RSS paper and is showing seed leaves as the food provider ? :slapshead:
Hi CNS,

We did RSS paper too and we chose answer option 3 as we assume that answer option 1 is wrong as we consider A as shoot. We decided that option 3 for RSS paper is more appropriate after reference to
1. PSLE Ultimate Science Guide Page 131 - diagram showing cross section of a seed (similar to this - http://theseedsite.co.uk/seedparts.html); and
2. Learning Science by SAP Page 26 - answer for Question 3 indicates that the leafy portion that is identical to RSS option A is 'first leaf' and that the 'seed portion' identical to RSS option C is 'seed leaf'. Do note that there is no indication in RSS Question that Option 'C' is seed leaf.

Hence for our answer to Rosyth's Q12, we opt for Option 2.

Appreciate that parents who had attempted these questions can comment.

11 ans is 1

13 ans is 4
17 ans is 2
22 ans is 1
23 ans is 2
25 ans is 3
Hi Mychildren,
We tally for Q2, Q11, Q12 (seed leave as per CNS' question), 17, 22 and 25.

Our Q8 is 2 because my child said that option 4 is correct as all life cycle starts with fertilized egg. The answer sheet is definitely wrong. Can CNS share what is her option for this question?

For Q23, is the mass question that my child got wrong.

Thank you.

Hi

Good Morning.

I think students learned that a gas has no definite volume and that it can be compressed in PSLE science.

Going back to your question, I think the answer lies in the state of the basketball before air is pumped in.

1)If it is in the deflated state, as you pump in more air, the shape of the basketball changes, hence volume increases.

2)If the basketball is already pumped to its recommended pressure, then pumping in more air may not increase its volume. The shape of the ball does not change. You can imagine the ball as similar to a container of fixed volume.

Best wishes

Hi Tianzhu,

Thank you.

Human Systems requires mostly memorisation of the functions of different systems.
From the few papers we attempted, common questions includes identification of parts of the systems, joint types and function of the systems especially digestive systems, the difference between big and small intestine.

For Plant Systems, the key revision area is the experiment on the absorption of coloured water up the plant, resulting in the turning the flower into a particular colour ie the function of xylem and phelom.

:goodpost: :lovesite: :thankyou: teh_oh for your tips and sharings; appreciates much :salute:

Hi Champion,

You are welcome.

Hi all!

I prefer assessment books as all the qns accumulated.so i use assessment books to understand the topic.then go to past papers.but this time i shocked.each assessment has different style of qns.when i see the pastpaper, very different.is that enough past paper only.cos i didn't't complete any assessment book.i just lost how to prepare for systems.

If the egg is fertilized egg, I agreed that the answer is 2. Thanks for letting me know about this.

As for 23, my ans same as my son is 2 because the volume in the basketball is fixed when fully pumped with air. As air can be compress, even if you pump in more, the volume of air in the basketball will still remain unchanged.

Hi Mychildren,
Thanks for your explanation on Q23. I am at lost at questions relating to such.

For the Egg-Kitten-Cat question, it is tricky as I am not sure if the day cycle considers as life cycle. May need to double check with his teacher.

teh_oh,

In fact, I should thank you. If not, I'll not realize the difference between the seed leaf and first leaf. I may result teaching wrongly my son. He was telling me why I marked him wrong and I was at a lost too. Their textbook was not enough to provide enough information. Even guide book never state the difference too.

:thankyou:
