I always get you, bro.. http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys.php

And plus, now I have two daughters and two sons to fall back on reason. In case, that might be needed as baseline. ๐Ÿ˜‰ See! I'm balanced even when it comes to that. ๐Ÿ˜‚

THERE IS ALWAYS TWO SIDES TO A COIN.

        Chenonceau:

But this one is a child. To become a prostitute at 17, her sexual initiation must have started way before. WHO was it who seduced her at 14? 15? 16? Where were her parents when she was 13 or 14 and hanging out in malls till the wee hours of the night?

I went onto part-time work many years ago because of 2 things. I toured an SPF lock-up facility and saw a EIGHT year old little boy. 2 days later, The Husband and I stole some time to catch a midnight movie. On the way home, I saw a little girl with heavy make-up and a body that was beginning to develop in interesting ways loitering in the hallway to the carpark. I thought she must have been about 14.

These 2 experiences shook me. My daughter was scoring poorly at school. Teachers complained about her. She complained about Teachers. She was in P4. I quit my job and stayed home for a year. In one year, DD moved from bottom to top. She later went to a top school, and graduated from A levels with 8 distinctions. During one of her CIP involvement in Sec 3, someone (a man in his 20s) told her a joke she didn't understand. She came home to ask me. I have vague memories of the joke... something about a father peeing in a mothers mouth.

        I HIT THE ROOF BIGTIME.

My DD is not a prostitute because I was there to watch over her sexual imprinting... to ensure that she understands the sexual eperience from MY viewpoint. I was the one who personally gave her the sex talk and I also do it for my son.

Do you think this 17 year old had a Mother like me?
        :goodpost:

Agree. That's why I made a career switch two years ago. I could have been a financial controller if I had stayed on that job but I decided to become a clerk in order to be a part of my child's growing up years. I reckon the furthest I could have gone is being a CFO or a something and I probably could have earned a million before I am 40. But nothing can buy my child's growing up years back, even if I give up my million(s).

I decide that it's more worth while to be a part of my child's life.

Yes, nothing can be compared to the important responsibility as a parent to be there to nurture our children and be part of their life ... they just grow up so fast !

              a) does it mean that once if any of the 48 men admit guilty, means straightaway they go jail for 7 years ?

              b) does it mean that if any civil servant still dare visit prostitutes aged above the legal age of 18 and are discovered, they won't lose their \"iron\" rice bowl ? at very most, lose reputation but career still retained, or internal transfer out to some other department to work ?

I get where you both are coming from. But besides agreeing with strparent that it takes two hands to clap, I think it can also be construed to be very hurtful to some working mothers who do not have the choice to work part time or stay home. There are mothers who are widowed, stuck with a good for nothing spouse, struggling with debts or simply not well educated enough to have much career choice. All they can do is concentrate on paying the bills and hope that their children will turn out okay.

I personally know a mother in such circumstances. Unknown to her, her daughter was drugged and possibly raped at twelve. And yes, she became a teenage escort, even as she gave her younger sister pocket money, and protected the younger sister from men who wanted to date the younger sister - men in their twenties while the little sister was only thirteen. This escort bakes as a hobby, contributes to grandparents, and has had her ups and downs. She is hardened, she sees herself as tough and cynical...all this time the mother is just working hard at shift work to pay off the husband's debts. It's not always so straight forward.

I guess what I mean is - not every parent can be a parent like that and that is not necessarily the parentsโ€™ fault. And sometimes, even the best of parents will not be able to steer a child away from a certain course. Sorry to have been so long winded above.

Itโ€™s very very sad that this girl slept with so many men at 17. There is nothing proud about it. Even if there is gag order protecting her, one day her identity will be known. No man will hide and word will spread around by those men who slept with her, especially if they go to jail after that encounter.

We as parents can only do our best in imparting the right values, and then pray that our children will turn out fine.
Know of a very pious and dedicated mother who brought the DD to church every sun from young. When the DD hit her teens, suddenly she told her mum she's tired of being a goody-two shoes and decided her friends' lifestyles seem more exciting, that's when the mother started to \"lose\" her DD.
