There will also be cases whereby some students are exempted from MT, so their PSLE score is based on the remaining 3 subjects. I suppose in such cases, the students' performance will not be affected by the cohort's MT performance. And the advantage will be more time to study for other subjects πŸ™‚

The latest edition of PopClub magazine will be out from 13-Nov, this Friday.

I supposed the 20% discount off assessment books will kick in this weekend.

        Just a FYI.

They may lose out in secondary school.
Students who do not have MT at S3 are not offered additional subjects due to timetabling issues. Unless they take lessons outside school as private candidates OR their school is willing to accomodate special requests (hardly possible).
Which means their peers might be doing 8 subjects but they'll have 7 subjects. To some, it's an advantage, but to others, it may be a disadvantage because cant take HMT & get 2 bonus points shaved off the L1R5.

There's pros & cons. Weigh out carefully before proceeding πŸ™‚

so what is the different between kids than score eg… 250 on 4 ,5 and 3 subjects respectively?

are they given the same credit base on marks?

Are you sure that students exempted from mother tongue will have their PSLE score calculated only on remaining 3 subjects? I have friends whose kids are exempted from MT and MOE has refused to comment on how their PSLE aggregates will be calculated.

For 5 subjects, I suppose u meant additional HMT.

HMT score is not included in the PSLE T-score. You will get a Distinction, Merit or Pass as a score. A distinction would allow you to add 3 points to your PSLE score, when you apply for a SAP school, merit will allow a 2 point bonus and pass will be 1 point bonus.

So either 4 or 5 subjects, the T-score is still based on 4 subjects.

I have seen students exempted from MT, ie, taking 3 subjects, and score is still something like 250+, 260+. So I assume there must be some way that MOE calculates the score based on the 3 subjects, but I don't know how. But this is the T-score for these students, and I suppose if 2 students scoring the same score (regardless of 3 or 4 subjects), they should be equal ranking.

I don't know how MOE calculate the PSLE score for 3 subjects. But I would think that it has to be based on these 3 subjects only. I may be wrong though.
