Yes, the function of the umbrella is to shield the rain and sun (must have UV protection)...but in geylang, it serves another purpose, to get 'business'. Those women can't possibly get biz hiding in a corner...it's very competitive too :evil:

Even if there is Women Charter protecting the underage girls from sleeping around, it's the lack of respect they have for themselves. Young women find that it's good money to be an escort...they do not see themselves as prostitutes. Some do it bcos they enjoy IT...some do it to satisfy their need for Chanel or LV. Others just want company, like why men find escorts in the first place.
