Many cases of NS boys dying...are you worried for your boys?

Way2GO:
That's dreadful.
he continued reading a book while I related to him my medical history related to an injury.
He then proceeded to write an MC (I think) without any physical examination. -
3Boys:
maybe the book he was reading could be a medical journal or reference book to find a proper definition of the injury

pinky:
medics are not full-fledged doctors right?
No. Medics must attend a medic course n pass before joining units.
MOs r qualified docs. (most fresh fr school). -
pinky:
haha. No such diagnosis on d MC.

Only a perfunctory swipe of his pen to come back in 3 months.
d book looked like a paperback.
His eyes were oredi on d book when I went into d room.
He cld be coming to an interesting part dat he couldn't peel his eyes off. -

Is this during reservist call-up or active time?

SAF has a very high standard of safety measure in place during excercises and training. However, despite all these safety measures, it cannot be made 100% safe. No living person can gurantee no injury or death as human errors or equipment mulfunction may occur.
As parents, we need to pray for our sons’ safety. -
Way2GO:
W2G, you long time no see me, it also means I long time no see you if you know what I mean.
ksi, long time no see.
I personally hv an experience of an indifferent MO.
After waiting for a substantial time for my turn to see d MO,
he continued reading a book while I related to him my medical history related to an injury.
He then proceeded to write an MC (I think) without any physical examination.
That was it. When d medic gave me a MC for light duties n to report back in 3 months,
I immediately asked for d MO’s name with d intention to report him,
but d medic pacified me n refused to provide d MO’s name.
On recalling dis now, I am tinged with regret dat I didn’t pursue d matter with MINDEF at dat time.
I went thro dis charade, though with different MO each time, two n three times,
before someone advised me to see a specialist to certify my injury for downgrading.
It was a real waste of time.
wat dat MO did leaves d impression dat he was going thro' motion,
without paying any attention to d details of each case.
Anyway, perhaps military grounds is a MACHO place and people assume everyone should be macho about everything, remain calm and cool about everything, so sometimes it results in error judgement. My take is no fear to show more concern, better be wrong than risk a life. Outside the military world, I often see doctor doing 1001 tests on a patient just to eliminate all possibilities before releasing them home and of course it cost alot of $$$.....ok 1001 maybe too many but at least do the necessary, they are someone's precious kids too and serving the country. Even though I have no son, my heart aches to hear such stories from NS, it is not easy bringing up a child and losing one is certainly not trivial at all.
As for your experience, it is bad attitude that should be arrested. As a doctor, regardless of where he is, he has to have the conduct of a doctor, professionally. And if NS is breeding such attitude, all the more it is of concern. Someone has to raise the broom and start sweeping, everyone is a precious one to someone. This reminds me of the recent news on a pilot reading or making an SMS while flying and forgot the wheels... *sigh* -
Actually there are lot more deaths in NS but they were not reported. Those days, no internet! :scared:

Read that the boy was from top jc… Sad for his parents.
And most likely the driver and vehicle commander (also NSF) will get charged and jailed… Sad for their parents too.
